CArEEr TECHNology EduCATioN (CTE)Forklift Logistics Operations & Warehouse training programDean Priscilla Leadon, Staff and Training Cohort

The Career Technology Education(CTE) department at CCC began the Spring Semester with large numbers enrolled in its Forklift Logistics Opera-

tions & Warehouse training program. CCC is the first in the TAA collaborative to launch the training program.

During the orientation ses-sions in January, a total of 95 West County residents signed up for the 35 slots open to the first training cohort. The limited cohort number is based on the number of hours each student must have on the forklifts and other warehouse equipment used in the program.

The classes include forklift safety training, Hazmat aware-ness certificate, digital ware-house skills and job placement assistance.

Construction Updates . . . SPRiNG 2013MEASURE A—moving forward on Campus

• Swing Space will be provided for the Bookstore, Student Life and Food Services during construction of the New College Center.

• Portables will be provided in Parking Lot #9 for the temporary location of the Bookstore at the end of the semester.

• Food services will move to a food truck at the end of the semester. The food truck will meet the needs of CCC’s current food vendor and later become an additional resource for our Culinary Arts Program.

Music Building is 95% completed. The building will serve as a pilot for the district-wide card key access project. The open

house is tentatively scheduled May 4th.• The New College Center is scheduled to go out

to bid this month and construction will begin this summer. Construction will include fencing off the area and re-direction signage will establish new

pathways on campus. The New College Center is scheduled to be completed in 3 years.

• The GA Annex elevator is in the design phase and construction is scheduled to begin fall 2013.

• Five motorized rollup doors have been installed on the AT building. The project is near completion.

• The Football Field (visitor bleachers) is a completed project. The new ADA ramp, companion seating and repaving have been completed.

• The home bleachers project will start with adding a sprinkler system under the bleachers, renovating the restrooms, and adding a concession stand for ADA compliance. This project will be completed by the end of the spring semester.

• The Parking Lot #16 project has been delayed until the Music Building is completed.

• Card Key Access is a district-wide project and is scheduled for completion in Spring 2013. The project includes 8 buildings at CCC; 1 at DVC; and 1-2 at LMC.
