Things are really getting exciting with the Relay For Life in Fish Creek.
So far we have 19 teams entered and the number of walkers is increasing
every day. So now it is time to think about how you want
to be involved. If you have a 1/2 to 1 hr spare sometime between 4.00pm Sat March 21st and 10.00am Sunday
March 22nd then you can join a team and help make the event a success. Remember the walk continues
OVERNIGHT to symbolise the fact that cancer never sleeps so there is plenty of time overnight to come to the
footy oval, walk for your allocated time, then head back home to your comfy bed. We have teams from The
Scouts/Cubs, Fish Creek Netball, Waratah Warriors and South Gippsland Relayers who would all love to have you
join their team. You do not need to be an active member of any of these groups to join in with them in the fight
against cancer. Just go online to the Relay for Life
website, search up South Gippsland Relay, locate the
Team you want to join and join it! $20 per person.
If you would like a paper copy of the Registration form
instead. please contact Irene 0428 391 495 and if you
have any questions in regards to the Relay at all, please
speak to Meagan Vuillermin, Claire Buckland, Kim Williams
or Irene Gale.

It’s Time to Celebrate!
Over the past couple of weeks we have had lots to
celebrate and be really proud of! Our students have not
only been actively participating (some taking risks and stepping out of their comfort zones) in sporting and
artistic endeavours, they have also been celebrating some
great personal achievements. Most recently at last week’s
Divisional Swimming Sports and the Foster Show over the
weekend. Congratulations to Emily and Hannah who will be
heading to Sale for the Regional Swimming sports next
week. Congratulations to Ryan for his fantastic model
aeroplane at this year’s Foster Show. Congratulations to
Nina (cat picture featured here) and Tom for taking out
first prize in the original painting category also at the
Foster Show. Liam and Wilkie received second prize in
this category. Awards will be presented at assembly
tomorrow. Read on for more information and photos…

Parent Payments
Thank you to everyone who has made
prompt payment at this busy time. It has
been brought to our attention that the
BSB number in some Signmee notes may
have been incorrect. Please note the
correct BSB is 063820. However, this will
change soon as we are changing over to Bendigo Bank.
We will let you know as soon as this happens and give
you the new details. Also, a reminder that if you are
paying online we need your surname as the reference.
We understand that some families may be experiencing
financial hardships and always encourage them to
contact the school to make payment arrangements. Our
staff try to keep the cost of activities to a minimum
and often our Parent’s Club and community sponsorship
help to subsidise these activities. School Council will be
reviewing the parent payment policy and this will be
updated in December.

Sports Report By Karla & Lochie G
On Friday, Emily, Hannah, Karla, Kirra, Freya & Leila
competed at the Korumburra Pool in the Divisional
Swimming Competition. Emily & Hannah got through to
the Regional Championship. Emily came 3rd in butterfly
and Hannah came 3rd in backstroke. Everyone else did a
great job to get that far!
On Monday the footy oval was able to be run on and
played on.
Don’t forget to put your grade’s sports equipment away
when you are done with it.
Instrumental Music with John Rees
John is not here teaching Music this Term but might
return in Term 2. We will keep you posted.
First Aid and Medications
Temporary medications e.g. antibiotics, anti-
histamines etc. can be administered when accompanied
by a note signed and dated by a parent. All medicines
must be in original packaging with instructions and
student’s name attached.
Pain relief medication such as Panadol, Aspirin etc. is
not permitted to be administered as First Aid. It can
be administered at school if presented as a Doctor’s
prescription or as part of a Medicine Management
plan.
Students suffering from asthma or other severe
medical condition are required to submit a School
Asthma/Severe Condition Management Plan.
Performing Arts
Our dress up department is looking a bit sad this year,
so if you have anything you think we could use as
costumes and props, please send them along to school
anytime. Items might include: jackets, hats, blankets,
ties, scarves, wigs, dresses, costumes etc. Thanks.
Camp Update
A reminder that the dates for this years 3/4 and 5/6
Camps are as follows;

1st May

13th March, however we need to approve parent
helpers at next Tuesday’s school council meeting. We
are currently finalising costs and as usual will try and
keep these to a minimum. However, the cost is
calculated on all students attending so if you are going
to be away we need to know ASAP to factor any
additional costs into the final fee. Many thanks for
your support and patience.

mail this week. Prompt payment is appreciated. You
may pay at the office or directly deposit the fees into
our Bendigo Bank account. If you would like to organise

dren check) please contact the office with your details.
KidsMatter Update
On Tuesday representatives from the KidsMatter Action Team attended the network meeting in Leongatha. This is
a great time for local schools to come together and share their successes and challenges in their KidsMatter
journeys. This time we heard from Foster Primary School who have celebrated many successes since becoming a
KidsMatter school in 2013. Most significant for them was the academic progress their students have made,
significantly in NAPLAN, AusVELS, Literacy and Numeracy. Student survey data has improved, including student
safety and attendance. This affirmed to us that we are on the right track and that positive mental health and
wellbeing is ESSENTIAL for learning.
We also heard from Terry Guilford who will be our guest speaker at our next KidsMatter parent information session
on Wednesday 25th March. Terry will be speaking on anxiety in children and building resilience. Please clear your
diaries for this we only have her for one hour! Terry is not only an entertaining speaker but she has a wealth of
knowledge to share.
Thank you to those families who have already returned their colourful family
fish to display in our office. We are still waiting on a few more for our display.
For more information about KidsMatter Primary see their website and Facebook page. http://www.kidsmatter.edu.au/

Refugee. I am becoming a refugee and I have to sail across the sea.
I have to pack a little bag so I’m feeling rather sad.
My parents never told me I was becoming a refugee
What is going to happen to me and where am I going to go?
Oh darling it’s O.K You will be safe and sound with me.
But Mum, what is a refugee?
A refugee is when you have to run away from home because
our life is in danger.
So let’s go. Quick. Quick. Quick.
But Mum will I stay with you?
I don’t know darling.
Sorry Darling you have to leave your Mum and go live in a Foster Home
And you Madam will live in Manus Island
But I am not leaving my daughter in a foster home
Well it has to stay that way!
Bye My Darling. I love you so much!
I love you more Mum!
