IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL) is an innovative concept promoted by IFFCO, (World’s largest producer and distributor of Fertilizers), to promote rural communications with Value Added Services (VAS).

Community is platform in which people congregate, participate and share experiences.

It provides a sense of identity and purpose, a sense of being a part of and belonging.

A community is a centre of activity where people with common background sharing some common interest, gather

for a SPECIFIC PURPOSE.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY

IKSL is a COMMUNITY of more than 60

million Farmer Members.

WHAT IS AN INSTITUTE

 AN INSTITUTION IS AN ORGANISATION OR ACTIVITY THAT IS A PART OF ANY COMMUNITY. IT PROVIDES STABILITY AND MECHANISMS FOR

FULFILLING A NEED OF THE COMMUNITY.

AN INSTITUTION SHARES A SET OF OBJECTIVES

We presume, IKSL has the opportunity to harness its potential to serve its farmer members community more powerfully through

INSTITUTIONALISING.

The Institutions of a community are created to provide a VALUED OUTCOME.

Characteristics of an Institution

An institute is created to serve a – PASSIVE or CONSCIOUS or SPECIFIC NEED, of all or some members’ of the community.

MEMBERS EXPECT A BENEFICIAL RETURN FROM THE COMMUNITY INSTITUTE(S)

THE EXPRESSION "CARE" IS A CONCERN OR INTEREST

TO SUPPORT OR ASSIST OR HELP A MEMBER OR A GROUP OF PEOPLE, IN MEETING THEIR NEEDS

INSTITUTIONAL CARE is a SPECIALISED SERVICE or a SPECIFIC NEED

that is provided by an Institution within a community.

CARE may be a Short term care or a Long term care.

INSTITUTIONAL CARE

Erving Goffman* states that no institution is all open or all closed. That they all share similar characteristics. An institution is either

positively or negatively valued.

Institutions are a part of the social construction of a community.

WITHOUT INSITUTALISATION WITHIN A COMMUNINTY…
