Assignment Details Worth 15% of grade

Groups will be assigned (chosen at random on Monday of next week – though, if you don’t like your date or state, you may seek a volunteer with which to change groups)

I will accept volunteers for the first presentation, as it will come soon (week 3 – the United Kingdom) (You’ll get marked much easier if you go first)

More Details You will provide an overview of your case study state

Details should include basic information about the state including, but not limited to: Type of government, economy, regional security, some history

Additionally, you should identify an important current event impacting the state

Special attention should be paid to connections between chapter and case state

…and a Few More Details Presentations will take place on Wednesdays after the break

There are no apparent time conflicts with other assignments in this course, so you are expected to present on the day assigned

If you have a conflict with an assignment in another class, be proactive and find a fellow student willing to change groups with you

If you are ill, please provide a doctor’s note and please be sure to keep in contact with your group and let them know if you are unable to present

Requirements Accuracy!

Your fellow students are, in part, depending on your presentation for relevant info about your case study

Sources are both cited and academic (textbooks okay – Wikipedia isn’t)

Presentation: approximately 15 minutes

Each group member must provide a one paragraph (typed!) description of their work on the presentation by the end of the class on which they presented

Presentation needs to be provided via email to the instructor 24 hours before hand

Read the material in the book (case study profiles are provided at the end of your text!)

Use the corresponding chapter to focus your discussion

Videos are okay, but must not take up more than 3 minutes of your presentation

Your fellow students have a say in your grade, make the presentation interesting and engaging. Speak slowly and clearly.

Group Work Code of Conduct Each group member should be treated with respect

Each student’s voice should be heard If there are disagreements, do not let the fester, try to work them out

While its hard to balance work perfectly evenly, it is expected that each group member pulls their weight Be respectful of your group – if you haven’t done the work, don’t

blame others for your choices.

Failure to comply to these basic codes of conduct could result in the removal from a group.
