1 Overview

1.1 Scope

The scope and purpose of this document is to define procedures, tools and criteria for testing the compliance of systems with HDBaseT Specification Version 2.0.

Section ‎1.3 provides an overview of the Certification Test Specification document.

Chapter ‎2 discusses test setups and equipment.

Chapter ‎2.1.4 contains a list of required tests.

Chapter ‎3 describes the HDBaseT port test procedures.

1.3 Introduction

HDBaseT is a connectivity standard for whole-home and commercial distribution of uncompressed ultra-high-definition multimedia content. The cornerstone of HDBaseT technology is 5Play, a feature set that converges uncompressed ultra-HD digital video and audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, USB 2.0, up to 100W of power over cable, and various control signals through a single LAN cable for up to 100 meters/328 feet. The latest specification of HDBaseT also enables the transmission of audio & video, Ethernet, USB and controls over fiber optic, for even longer distances.

HDBaseT define 5 classes of HDBaseT products. Table 1 shows each class supported features and cable distances

In order to ensure the various components in an HDBaseT system function optimally and according to specification, comprehensive compliance tests must be conducted. These tests are structured in this document to provide a description of the purpose, resources, and procedures for each test. Each test description consists of the following components:

Test Setup: Describes the configuration of the test environment

Test Purpose: A brief statement outlining the goal of the test

Test References: Specifies source material external to this document

2 Test Set Up and Equipment

A typical test setup contains the following:

HDBaseT Golden Units (GUs)

A PC with HDBaseT2.0_CTS software and RS232 cable connected to the Debug port

Set of LAN and/or Fiber Cables and HDMI cables

Various test equipment

2.1 Golden Units

In general, all tests require connection of the device under test (DUT) to a Golden Unit (GU). There are three types of Golden Units, named classes- for each class there shall be an HDBaseT TX Extender GU and an HDBaseT RX Extender GU:

Type 1: Tx & Rx units that includes VS100 chipset For Class A&B tests

Type 2: Tx & Rx units that includes VS2310 chipset For Class C&D tests

Type 3: Tx & Rx units that includes VS2310 chipset and VS2311 chipset (Fiber interface) For Class E tests.

2.1.4 Device Required Tests

While the devices ID and the declaration of the Device’s feature list are always tested, all other tests are executed depending on the devices capabilities and features as define in the Capabilities Declaration Form (CDF), as describes in section ‎9.

Test Procedure

1. Connect GU HDBaseT port to DUT HDBaseT port using CFG#6 for class C or CFG#8 for class D

2. Verify that the HDBaseT link is active.

3. GU set BIST HDCD values according to Table 8: BIST HDCD values

4. Perform the following steps on each specified configuration as defined in Table 9: Test performance configuration and Pass Criteria, according to the device class and the supported Active mode as defined in CDF.

5. GU enables protected BIST traffic on the DUT TX port according to Table 9.

6. GU monitor retransmission rate.

7. Enable BIST traffic on the GU RX port, clear statistic and run the BIST for 5 minutes in Test configuration 3,4 or 30 minutes in Test configuration 1,2

8. GU retrieves Main and Aux BIST BER.

Pass/Fail Criteria

If the DUT Active mode Phy performance is within the pass criteria as defined in Table 9: Test performance configuration and Pass Criteria, then the test is passed.

1. Connect the DUT HDBaseT port to the HDBaseT port on the HDBT GU using cable CFG#5

2. Verify that the HDBT link is established.

3. Verify the DUT Local IR configuration HDCD entity ID 0x414 bits 1, 3, and 4 through 7 match the CDF IR parameters.

4. If the CDF Integrated IR decoder type is LPF (type B)/both( type A&B), perform the following steps:

a. Plug in the GU IR receiver cable type B.

b. Try to control the DUT with its remote control, according to the supported control functions which are specified in the CDF.

5. If the CDF integrated IR Transmitter type is pass-through (Type A)/both Type A&B), perform the following steps:

a. Verify the GU IR Receiver cable is unplugged or Plug GU External IR receiver Type A.

b. Try to control the DUT with its remote control, according to the supported control functions which are specified in the CDF.

Pass/Fail Criteria

If the TV CIR control functions without any error over HDBaseT and Entity ID 0x414 bits 1, 3, and 4 through 7 matches the CDF then the test Pass.

Test Procedure

1. Connect GU RX fiber to GU TX fiber port using the SFP under test and 600 meter OM3 cable through the Fiber optic Attenuator

2. Verify that the HDBaseT link is active.

3. Set Fiber Attenuator to -2db

4. Set BIST Packets HDCD as define in Table 8: BIST HDCD values.

5. Enable protected BIST TokD16 packets transmission on Both GU RX port and GU TX port.

6. Clear BIST packet count and Bit Error count.

7. Run BIST traffic for 30 min and retrieves Bit error count on both RX port and TX

port.

8. Repeat steps ‎1 to ‎7 using the OM4 800 meter cable

If Both TX port and RX port BIST Bit error counters are less than 10E-12 and no link error events occur during the test then test Pass.
