Your keyboard lets you enter text and numbers. 

It also has extra keys that let you control your cursor and the computer.

The keys let you enter letters and numbers: 

The long key at the bottom is the space bar.

Pressing a key enters a lower case letter.

For a capital letter, hold the SHIFT key down at the same time.

The keyboard also contains common symbols.

Some symbols are at the bottom of a key. Enter them by pressing that key. 

Other symbols are at the top of a key. Enter them by pressing ‘Shift’ and that key together.

Press the ‘return’ or ‘enter’ key to start a new line:

You sometimes need to press the return key as a type of ‘Go!’ key to input words or numbers, for example into a search engine on the internet.

The backspace and delete keys let you remove mistakes, one letter or number at a time.

The backspace key removes text to the left of the cursor. 

The delete key removes text to the right of the cursor.

The arrow keys let you move your cursor on the screen.

At the top of your keyboard are function keys: 

These have a different role in each program you use.

Some functions keys also let you control your computer.
