Welcome to Brno in 2021!Dear CinCers and CinCeresses (try saying it out loud),

Whether you're vising us in Brnoor readingthis at the comfort of yourhome oroffice, let us welcome you at the Compung in Cardiology 2021 in Brno.

If you're sing at the Reduta theatre, where the Sunday Symposium is happening, youprobably already noced that Brno is a great place to exchange ideas, discuss scienceand also enjoy yourselves. Let us remind you that Brno and the Czech Republic itselfare vibrant places full of culture, educaon and great cuisine. It's no wonder that inthe past, the local environment (and perhaps the local wine) inspired several well-known sciensts to their discoveries. Among the best known ones are Johann GregorMendel, Jan Evangelista Purkyně or a Nobel Laureate Jaroslav Heyrovský.

And if those names don't ring a bell (are you sure you're at the right conference??)maybe the following ones will. The Czech Republic is also famous for its greatsportsmen such as Jaromír Jágr (best known for ice hockey and his signature haircut)or Petr Čech (known for football/soccer and his signature helmet). We also prideourselves as great musicians and culture lovers and among our best known names inthis area belong a pop singer Karel Go (nicknamed Kája the Divine), a film directorMiloš Forman (Academy Award winner for his films One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nestand Amadeus) or a writer Milan Kundera (best known for his Unbearable Lightness ofBeing novel).

Plus, if you enjoy your coffee or tea with a few lumps of sugar, youmight want to knowthat sugar in cube shapes was invented here too. Sweet, huh?

For those of you reading this at home, this was a really useless wall of text with lots ofyadda yadda.

We sincerely hope you'll enjoy yourselves here and savour all Brno and its surroundingareas have tooffer. And if you'rewatching this conferenceonline we wish you a steadyinternet connecon and as few interrupons as possible. And say hi to your pets fromus.

Best wishes,

Ivo Provazník and every member of our large LOC team

Leer from the PresidentDear CinC 2021 Parcipant,

We all thought 2021 would be a return to normal aer 2020 (the year we all want toforget), but, alas, the Corona virus, Delta variants, vaccine shortages, and some weirdpolics have leus mired in uncertaintyonce again. It is clearly true that weare betteroff than a year ago; we have vaccines working well enough that we can avoid seriouslockdowns and we have begun to emerge into public life. For those who arevaccinated, the risks of serious illness are very low and we hope this reduced risk willallow me to welcome many of you in person to Brno!

As you all know, we have continuedwith the same hybrid format of CinC that we usedwith great success last year for Rimini/CinC2020, even the same company. We hopethe familiar interface will allow us all to make even more use of the features that thehybrid format enables. We can see posters throughout the conference and commenton them, reach out to the authors, use the social-media aspects of this plaorm toconnect, build community, and provide the contact with our fellow CinC geeks that wehave been missing. Even for those of us who can aend in person, we will make useof the hybrid tools and try to convey some of excitement of being in Brno.

Many aspects of this programare, indeed, business as usual! We connue to highlightthe features that make our conference like few others. The Sunday Symposiumorganized by the Local Organizing Commieeon the topic of AI will open the fun. Thenwill follow the Rosanna Degani Young Invesgator Compeon, the PhysionetChallenge, theBill andGary Sanders Posters compeon, the Clinical Challenge Award, the Maastricht Simulaon Award, and the usual four parallel sessions. There will evenbe a social event on Monday that will present the best of Brno.

Just as last year, we owe special thanks to the Local Organizing Committee under theleadership of Ivo Provaznik at the Brno University of Technology. Ivo and his teamhave dealtwith the constantlychanging condionsand seen their owncountry emergefrom being one of the most severely affected countries in Europe to become theclosest thing to a safe haven against COVID. They have done everything possible tomake CinC2021 both a safe and enjoyable event and please thank them when you canfor their dedicaon to our community. And, as always, please extend your thanks—and your suggesons and ideas, to the members of the CinC Board of Directors, whoperform endless hours of volunteer effort for our society.

More than ever before, I look forward to seeing you in Brno!

Welcome to Tampere for CinC 2022Dear CinC Friends,

We are thrilled to invite you to Tampere, Finland, for the49th Compung in Cardiologyconference on September 04-07th, 2022. It is the third me CinC is hosted in theNordic Countries and the very first me in Finland!

The city of Tampere is dynamic, internaonal, and easily accessible. It is located in thePirkanmaa region, only 180 km from the Finnish capital Helsinki. The city hostsTampere University (TAU), the new University born in 2019, merging the old TampereUniversity of Technology and the University of Tampere. With more than 20,000students, TAU represents the most internaonal university community in Finland.CinC2022 is hostedby theFaculty ofMedicine andHealth Technology, which combinesBiomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Medicine, providing an excellent basis formost CinC scienfic areas.

The Tampere locaon is quite evocave. Founded in 1775by KingGustav III of Swedenbetween the two lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi, Tampere has in its core theTammerkoski rapids, which connect the two lakes and provided energy to one of thefirst industrial plants in Finland: the Finlayson texle factory, established in 1820. In1882, the first electric bulbs were lit in Finlayson, making Tampere the first city in theNordic Countries to have electric light. Nowadays, Tampere is the central hub for ICTcompanies in Finland.

The conference venue is Tampere Hall (Tampere-talo), the largest congress center inthe Nordic Countries. Tampere Hall is located in the city center, only 500 meters fromthe railway and bus staons, and most of Tampere hotels are just a 5-15 minute walkaway.

The organizing committee is working hard to organize an excing and enjoyablemeeng, and it welcomes you to one of the liveliest cies in Finland!

allows the speaker to record voice and screen and download theirvideo file.

o PowerPointo ...any other recording system, that suits you :-)

• We recommend to record your presentaon both with the presenter’s facecamera (every author of great work should be seen ;-))

• Tips and tricks:o As you prepare your slides and structure your presentaon, think

strategically about how your slides will visually engage youraudience and support your speech.

o Have front lighng (do not sit with a window behind you).o Wear non-distracng clothing. Keep the background as neutral as

possible to reduce distracons.o Find a room that is quiet and does not have a lot of background

noise. Smaller rooms capture sound better than larger ones.
