ARTA PREKADINIViolinist, Accompanied by Amanda Virelles7:30 p.m. | September 13, 2019Hensdale Chapel

Arta Prekadini began her violin studies at age nine in Kosovo. She took lessons with the renowned Professor Sihana Badivuku and graduated in

violin performance from the School of Music in Pristina. In 2003, she won second place at the ARSKOSOVA Regional Competition.

Prekadini was part of the DW Symphony and performed chamber music concerts in Eastern Europe. In March 2008, Arta became a member

and soloist of the Kosovo Philharmonic under conductor Baki Jashari. In 2009, she was invited to perform with the Balkan Chamber Orchestra, formed by the great Japanese conductor Toshio Yanagisawa, performing concerts in Japan, and Europe

She has also been a member of the Albania Philharmonic Orchestra and the No Borders Orchestra. In 2014, she was a featured soloist with

the Kosovo Philharmonic

In 2014, she joined the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, Carolina Philharmonic, Union Symphony Orchestra, Spartanburg Philharmonic, and Rock

Hill Symphony. Prekadini has played in master classes with Mirijam Contzen, Francis Duroy, Ruth Waterman, Alexander Dubach, Cihat Askin, Johammes Watzel, Eugenia Tchougayeva, Erviz Gega, and Pierre Hommage.

Prekadini also performed as a soloist and in chamber orchestras in festivals like Kosova KamerFest (International Chamber Music Festival), Dam

Festival, ReMusica , European Summer Academy (ESMA).Currently, she takes violin lessons with Professor David Russell.

KRISZTINA DÉRFlutist7:30 p.m. | October 25, 2019Linda and Ralph Huff Concert Hall

Hailed by the Washington Post as a musician with “…a clean, full-bodied tone and fleet fingers,” Krisztina Dér is a member of the Fayetteville Symphony

Orchestra, Winds Upon a String flute and harp duo, and Winterbirds progressive folk band. First-prize winner of the 2017 RAFA Artist and the 2009 FSW Collegiate Competitions, she has been a featured soloist with several orchestras and has performed at the 2011 Jeunesses, 2014 Rosen-Schaffel, 2015 RAFA, and 2017 Myrna Brown Artist Competitions. She is on the faculty at Ms. Georgia’s Creative Arts Academy and A Part 2 Play Music School; as a pedagogue and ensemble director, she believes strongly in nurturing her students’ curiosity to excite them about learning.

A champion of intermedia, her growing flute/light project explores the integration of music and lighting design through concerts and commissions.

It has been funded in part by grants from the Friends of Flutes Foundation and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Some recent flute/light performance invitations include the 2018 NFA Convention, 2018 Light City Baltimore, 2018 Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, 2017 NSEME, Liberty University, University of North Carolina Pembroke, and University of Maryland Baltimore County.

ANASTASIA BRYANTPianist7:30 p.m. | February 7, 2020Matthews Chapel

Anastasia Bryant is a Russian-American professional pianist. She began learning the piano at age 5. At age 11, she won her first national piano competition and

in the same year was invited to perform with the Voronezh Symphony Orchestra. Over the years she has continued to compete and win in national competitions consistently placing in the top three positions. She has also performed as a soloist and with different chamber groups throughout many cities in the countries of Russia, Dubai, Kuwait, Austria, Germany, and the USA.

Bryant received her Master of Arts in Music from the Voronezh Academy of Arts in 2006 and her Performer’s Certificate from Montclair State University in 2015. She

is the North Carolina Music Teacher’s Association State Chair and NC MTA Lumberton District Chair. She is also a member of the Fayetteville Piano Teacher’s Association and Music Teacher’s National Association.

Currently, Anastasia is a lead accompanist at UNC Pembroke and has held positions as an adjunct staff piano professor at Fayetteville State University,

instructor at Snyder Music Academy, Van Hoven Music Academy in New Jersey, and a piano accompanist and former assistant professor of the Russian Diction Class at Montclair State University.

Anastasia continues to support the Lafayette Association as a lead accompanist at all annual concerts and continues to collaborate with musical theaters around

the U.S. Bryant and Lubov Borisova developed their first piano duet in 2007. Since then, they have performed throughout Russia and the U.S., winning several National competitions together.

Founded in the fall of 2016, Flower City Brass is a professional brass quintet comprising both current and former graduate students of the Eastman School

of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Flower City Brass continues to be an eclectic outlet for brass chamber music, offering creative performances of a highly diverse repertoire Most recently, Flower City Brass attended the third annual Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy in Leksand, Sweden, where they spent a week working and performing alongside the Stockholm Chamber Brass.

The group’s trumpet players are Steve Felix and Dean Oaks. Felix is a third-year doctoral student at the Eastman School of Music. He has a master’s degree

in trumpet performance from Eastman and a bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance and music education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Oaks is a native of Fayetteville, N.C. pursuing a graduate degree from Boston University. He received his bachelor’s from Eastman School of Music, where he earned the Sidney Meer trumpet prize. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem and has pursued graduate studies at the world-renowned Royal Academy of Music in London.

Sara Petokas, horn, has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania. She completed her master’s degree in

music performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music. She served as a teacher’s assistant at Eastman, where she also gave private lessons to students of all ages.

Tyler Simms, trombone, earned a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Kentucky and later earned a master’s degree in trombone from Eastman

School of Music. He earned the college’s first certiciate in college music teaching and currently serves as the DMA trombone graduate assistant at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

Brett Copeland, tuba, is a performer and composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. He is a freelance performer, composer, and educator who has played

with the Venice Symphony in Florida, Symphoria in New York, and the Ash Lawn Opera in Virginia, to name a few.
