Day 1

Panel 1 – Emerging Opportunities

Think Global, Act Local

There’s no doubt about it – the world is getting smaller: today’s technology has created an audience and potential market much larger than that of our own city, state or nation and certain markets in particular have huge growth potential.  Furthermore, in many markets and industries today, we are no longer competing with local suppliers – we are competing with global suppliers, and if we wish to survive we need to be ready and able to compete in the same arena.

We’ve all heard the “Think Global, Act Local” refrain, but what does it really mean?  In today’s business world, you need to be able to interpret what the global data tells you in relation to your business and also be ready to adjust to those individual cultural attitudes that are ingrained in every country.  Differing approaches to business and sales, as well as individual consumer perceptions could impact how you market and promote your brand and your product. A look at what you need to take into consideration when you’re thinking about going global.

Keys to Starting, Launching, and Scaling Your Business in Delaware

Starting a business in Delaware is easy. What’s challenging is launching and scaling your business in Delaware or anywhere. This presentation will identify resources and strategies to accomplish these objectives in the First State.

What Creativity is and what it is Not. Why it is important in today’s workplace. Is it a good idea to be “creative” when there is a problem? Techniques and Applications: Skill Building

Bring your most persistent problems. You just might discover a way to approach them with a new and effective strategy!

Panel 4 – Exiting Your Business

What To Do With Your Business When You’ve Grown It: Processes in Business Growth, Exit Planning, Valuation & Sale

STP is more than an engine additive. It’s what you sell when you build and get ready to sell a business. STP is Sustained Transferrable Profitability. It’s the “free cash flow” of profits after expenses that make a business worth owning.

Sam Waltz, a 40-year Delawarean, will race through five processes that are important to anyone who is building and selling a business (vs. self-employment). Those are…(1) Business Growth a Buyer Expects to See, and how to Generate It;(2) Raising & Managing the Capital You Need to Grow Your Business;(3) Starting Your Business Exit Planning 3-5-7 Years Early to Maximize Exit Value;(4) Valuation Process(es), Understanding What Your Business Really is Worth; and(5) Demystifying the Merger & Acquisition (M&A) Process in Business Sales.

Questions we will answer include: Can all businesses be sold? What’s the difference between Self-Employment and a Business? What can I do to increase the Value of my Business?
