What is STEM?
STEM is an acronym that stands for:
S = SCIENCE
T = TECHNOLOGY
E – ENGINEERING
M = MATHEMATICS
What will STEM look like at theKingman STEM Preparatory Academy?
• Engaging, hands-on curriculum tailor-made for middle school students.

Why is STEM
Education a National Priority?
The Department of Commerce predicts that STEM occupations will grow by 17% from now until 2018, compared to
9.8% growth for non-STEM occupations.
STEM jobs pay between 26% and 40% more than jobs in other fields, depending on
who you ask.“STEM instruction helps students in developing
conceptual understanding in science and mathematical
concepts, technical and engineering practices, and translates to all areas of
learning.”-ADE State Technology Educators Association
The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and
Technology found the U.S. must produce 1 million more STEM grads over the next decade to
meet demand – a 34% increase over current projections, if
nothing changes
