Ive had a great response from my first advert in Connection. I have had around 6 calls

and 4 bookings so far and its only been a few days since the magazine has been

delivered. Lisa Hillyard, i-Lipo, Ewell Village

Ive tried several different ways of advertising and leaflet distribution and without any

doubt Connection is the most effective way. It hits my exact target market local people.

Each advert increases my revenue by 15% per week or an increase of about 500

thats a great return on investment on an 88 advert!

Grant Hardy, Hardys Fish & Chips, Burgh Heath

Ive had 12 new customers from my cover page advert that have all booked at least

one session. So the advert has paid for itself many times over, which is great!

    Jodie Blunden, Pokey Feet Reflexology

I have been in Connection magazine for over 2 years now and I have won jobs,

directly from that advert, which amount to 20,000 of profit, not turnover, profit!

Steve Barnett, Carpet care plus, Walton on the Hill

We need to pull arebody about allday so why not useit when exercising.Developing a strong foundation of movementquality and technique is

crucial. Body-weight workouts use lots of different patterns and exercise rolledinto one. Body-weight exercises canhelp you with lots of things throughoutthe day. The movements dont need tobe complicated. Learning to lift ormove your own body weight is verybasic. Not many people are able to dothings like push ups or pullups and they can allowyou to target multiple muscle groups at once. These could be basicthings like getting up, or lifting and pulling yourbody.

Different body-weightexercises help with preventing injuries;this is because they help developingstability and muscle coordination. Butonly if done correctly!

Why not try squats or lunges; they areone of the simplest movements. It helpsstrengthen your gluteals, hamstringsand quadriceps, as well as improve balance and stability. You can makethe squats shallow, deep, slow, fast, wide and narrow. Lunges should bedone Standing with the hands on thehips and feet hip-width apart. Step forward and slowly lower your body untilthe knee is close to or touching the floorand bent at least 90 degrees. Thenback to the start and repeat with theother leg.

A plank is a good exercise to do, asits about strength and core. Try it by

lying face down with your arms andhands in front on the floor. Extend thelegs behind the body and rise up on thetoes. Keeping the back straight, tightenthe core and hold the position for agood amount of time, hoping for 30seconds or more really.

Push ups are a great one to try, theyare hard on the body if you are notused to them and you must think of posture while doing them as this caneasily be forgotten. Performing pushupsallows you to start at different levels thatsuit your ability. Still aim to try these, butmaybe start by using a bar, box or wall

while developing thestrength needed for a fullpushup. A push-up is notonly about chest; itinvolves your shoulders, arms and core.

One of the hardest bodyweight things to do is a pullup. This exercise means lift-

ing your own body weight up. The pull-up is a resistance exercise that works theupper body. A pull up can be changedfor most abilities and can be assisted bya person, band or machine. You shouldaim to lift your body up until your chin is higher than the bar. Then lower yourbody slowly down to a hanging position. Then repeat or lower your legsto the floor.

Remember you can also train anywhere and at anytime. We shouldall be trying to do more for are bodiesand make them stronger, as they do somuch for us.

Call 07564 525351 for personal trainingand nutrition guidance or email [email protected] Working at Twist Gym Kingswood.

  • One in five bags of food shopping getsthrown away thats not good foryour pocket or the planet. As foodprices continue to rise around the world, its asobering thought to know that many familieswaste up to 50 a month throwing awayuneaten food. This increases by a massive80% during the Christmas period, equating to230,000 tonnes of good food being thrownaway worth around 275m.

However we also know that cutting downon food waste can be a challenge, especially when youre pushed for time andyour kids dont always want to eat whatyouve cooked for them. So to help youwaste less, Love Food Surrey chef CarmelaTomkins gives us her top festive tips to helpyou plan the perfect waste free Christmas.

Taking just one small step to reduce foodwaste can have a big positive effect on theenvironment and save you money too. Wehope our tips will inspire you to take that step.It pays to plan Control your urges to stock up and spendmadly by planning for the season.Remember most shops will be open apartfrom the one special day. Choose the food your family is most likelyto eat. It is pointless offering brussel sproutsand red cabbage if it will not be eaten. Itmakes more sense to choose popular vegetables and cook them in a slightly different way such as pan-fried with garlicand bacon. Seasonal special offers can be good valueas long as you plan to use the extra food.Check if you can freeze items and make sureyou have the space in your freezer beforebuying offers, or why not share deals withfriends and family such as mince pies orsausage rolls. Perfect portions Remember portion size - if you are servinga starter, main course and dessert, portionsshould be smaller than your everyday onecourse meal. Choosing what size turkey to cook can betricky. Stick with 450g per person and you

should have plenty to go round to pleaselarge appetites and leftovers for Boxing Daytoo. Love your leftovers If you have any leftovers from Christmasdinner, chop up roast potatoes and vegetables, chuck into a pan to fry and addsome Indian spice for a tasty bubble andsqueak dish. Make a stock from the carcass of thecooked turkey by simmering for a few hoursin water with any leftover veggies such asonions, carrots or celery. Stain and seasonthe liquid, which you can freeze, and use toflavour soups and risottos. The large jars of coleslaw and chutneysmay not get eaten entirely on Boxing Daybut kept chilled will be great topping for ajacket potato for another day. Savvy storage A well-stocked store cupboard can be areal life-saver over the busy festive period.Keep a variety of goods on the shelves andyou'll always have the ingredients standingby to pull together a delicious meal for guestsor to jazz up your Christmas leftovers.Festive freezingMake space this season. Food can be keptsafely in the freezer for years at -18C, as longas you keep it frozen the whole time. However the texture and taste may changeover time, so try to eat food within threemonths.Try freezing: Brandy or rum butter: Although these keepperfectly well in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, any further ahead than that they should befrozen in rigid containers. Stuffings and sauces: All sauces (with theexception of hollandaise) can be frozen. Casserole: Do you need to plan a casserole for supper on Christmas Eve whenthere will be precious little time for extracooking? Cook when you have spare timeand freeze until needed. • IThere are so many Solicitors to choosefrom that deciding whom to trust withyour personal affairs is a daunting task. There are a number of factors to consid-er when you find yourself in need of aSolicitor, some of which are exploredbelow.RecommendationThe best way to find out whether a particular Solicitor is going to work wellwith you is to ask previous clients if theywere happy with the service theyreceived. Ask friends and family if theycan recommend someone.FeesFind out how their charges are structured and if their fees are madeclear before you proceed. Will they beable to give a fixed fee for the work thatyou require or will they charge youdepending on the amount of time theyspend? All Solicitors are required to givean estimate for their work but find out inwhat circumstances that estimate mightincrease. Make sure that you comparelike with like to ensure an accurate comparison. Bear in mind that if someone is too cheap you may notreceive the service you deserve.LocationIf you don't have much spare time thena Solicitor close to your home or workmay be preferable, especially if youanticipate numerous meetings. Youmay want to be able to meet in theevenings or in your own home in whichcase a Solicitor who offers home visitsmay be preferable.Make EnquiriesHave a look at their website if they haveone. Do they cover the area of law thatconcerns you and do they have thenecessary expertise? Find the name of aSolicitor to speak to before you choose.Call them and make an initial enquiry,

this will help you decide whether you willbe able to work with them and if theyhave the knowledge to deal with yourmatter. QualificationA Solicitor who specializes in your particular area of interest may be prefer-able to a general practitioner. For exam-ple, a Solicitor who only writes Wills maynot be able to recognize if you wouldbenefit from tax advice and might notnecessarily be able to take into accountyour financial and personal circum-stances when preparing your Will. If yourequire additional documentation andadvice they may not be qualified toadvise you correctly.

In our age of everything going digitalcertain requirements by governmenthave also pushed forward in this way,one of those being auto enrolment. Thereason this is IT related is becauseKeystroke Associates have put togethera one hour tutorial using the pensionregulator site to get people signed upand compliant but why might you ask?

People are living longer yet too manypeople are under-saving or not savingat all for what could be a long retirement. The law on workplace pensions has changed to make it easierfor millions more people to build up apension, particularly those on lowerincomes

Automatic enrolment means that, rather than having to actively choose tojoin a pension scheme, staff are putinto0 one by their employer as a matterof course. If they dont want to be in the
