Fall Session: September 5 - December 5Our fall GriefShare Program begins September 5, 2018.It is comprised of 13 self-contained weekly sessions.GriefShare is open to anyone 18 years or older who are grievingthe death of a family member or friend.
GriefShare features biblical, Christ-centered teaching thatfocuses on grief topics associated with the death of a lovedone. The DVD seminar features nationally known grief experts
and real-life stories of people who have gone through the journey of grief and understand personally how it feels.A group discussion follows. These discussions allow us to see where we are on this journey. Confidentiality &respect are an extremely important part of this discussion. What is shared in the group- stays in the group. Noone else can tell your story, your journey, your lost, your memories, your love- only you and in the sharing thehealing begins.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned totheir daily life and routines and they are still feeling lost and alone. Sometimes people will try to ignore or to stufftheir grief instead of acknowledging the hurt, the anger, the lost and the love. GriefShare allows you toacknowledge the lost and the changes that you now have in your life.
Your bereavement experience may be recent, or not, but at GriefShare you will find encouragement and help inyour journey of grieving the death of your loved one. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, thisis an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn valuable informationabout facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.
GriefShare will meet Wednesdays, September 5th-December 5th, 2018 @ 6:30 – 8pm in Ed. Bldg. Room #214Workbook $15.00 (Scholarships available). Sponsored by Stephen Ministry Program – UUMC.Brochures are available in the narthex. Additional information at: www.griefshare.org and on UUMC website.

What Exactly Is Stephen Ministry?Stephen Ministry is a ministry in our congregation in which trained and supervised lay persons, called Stephen Ministers, provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges or difficulties.
Stephen Ministers are the caregivers who have engaged in 50 hours of initial training in Christian caregiving, including generaltopics such as listening, feeling, boundaries, assertiveness and using Christian resources in caregiving. In addition, theirtraining covers specialized topics such as ministering to the divorced, hospitalized, bereaved, and aging. Currently we have15 active Stephen Ministers. Three of these are Stephen Leaders.
How Can Someone Receive Care from a Stephen Minister? If you or someone you know could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister, you can talk to the person and with theirpermission make contact on their behalf to one of Union’s Ministers, contact the church office, complete a StephenMinistry pew card, check on the prayer request in the bulletin—Have a Stephen Minister contact me, send an email [email protected] or you can follow this same process on your own behalf.
