Avec la totalité de vos dons qui restent ici, à St. Mary, c’est vraiment formidable de voir à quel point chaque dollar investi dans cette communauté aspire au mieux. À titre d’hôpital d’enseignement affilié à l’Université McGill, ayant le statut de CHAU, St. Mary est fier d’établir les normes d’excellence les plus élevées en matière
de qualité et d’efficacité pour les soins aux patients, l’enseignement et la recherche.
Notre engagement envers l’enseignement permet chaque année à des dizaines de résidents en médecine de faire des stages et de terminer leur formation. Comme leader en recherche familiale et communautaire basée sur des faits, le Centre hospitalier de St. Mary est à la tête de plus de 35 projets de recherche actifs, dont plusieurs sur la scène internationale seulement. Et il s’assure de combler les besoins des dizaines de milliers de personnes qui franchissent nos portes… Sachez que c’est grâce à votre soutien que nous pouvons

The Auxiliary is a vital, historical fundraising branch of St. Mary’s Hospital Center. Members operate the Gift Shop, Book Corner, Coffee Shop and annual events to generate funds to purchase specialized medical equipment and enhance patient care.

Nous avons tous un patrimoine à préserver et à transmettre à ceux qui nous survivront. Notre patrimoine est un ensemble de valeurs et de pratiques qui nous ont été léguées par nos prédécesseurs et que nous avons assimilées dans nos expériences de vie. C’est l’héritage que nous léguons à notre tour à la génération qui nous suit afin de la guider et de l’éclairer et pour lui rappeler affectueusement que nous avons naguère été ici. Nous sommes éternellement reconnaissants de la générosité des membres du Cercle du patrimoine qui ont choisi de réserver des dons pour l’hôpital St. Mary dans leur testament et dans leur plan successoral. Non seulement leur contribution leur permet-elle de laisser leur marque dans l’histoire, mais elle favorise l’excellence des soins de santé et constitue un legs durable.
LE MUR COMMÉMORATIF
La perte d’un être cher est une blessure qui ne guérit jamais vraiment, mais le souvenir de cette personne peut contribuer à nous réconforter et à chérir tout ce qu’elle représentait pour nous. Les dons versés en mémoire constituent un moyen réfléchi et tangible de rendre hommage à un proche tout en aidant plusieurs autres personnes. Nous tenons à exprimer notre appréciation et nos sympathies les plus sincères aux familles et amis qui ont perdu un être cher et qui ont récemment fait apposer une plaque à son nom sur le Mur commémoratif de St. Mary.

We all have a heritage to preserve and share with those we leave behind. Our heritage is an intricate set of values and practices given to us by our predecessors and learned by us through a lifetime of experience. Heritage is what we pass on to the next generation, to guide and inform them, and to remind them fondly that once-upon-a-time, we were here. We are eternally grateful for the generosity of the members of our Heritage Circle who have chosen to leave gifts to St. Mary’s Hospital in their wills and estate plans. Their contribution not only marks their time in history; it also supports excellence in healthcare and creates a lasting legacy.
MEMORIAL WALL DEDICATION
The loss of a loved one never truly heals but through our memories we can take comfort and hold dear all that they meant to us. Gifts made in memory are a thoughtful, tangible way to pay tribute to a loved one while also helping many others. Our appreciation and heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends who have lost a loved one and recently placed a plaque in their name on the St. Mary’s Memorial Wall.

Changer des vies grâce à la recherche et la technologie… Améliorer l’expérience du patient en oncologie
Des chercheurs du Centre hospitalier de St. Mary sont à la tête d’une nouvelle initiative – le projet e IMPAQc – pour évaluer les symptômes physiques et émotionnels d’un patient en temps réel au moyen d’un téléphone cellulaire ou d’une tablette. S’appuyant sur une application mobile développée par l’Institut de recherche du CUSM affilié à McGill, notre équipe de scientifiques et de cliniciens de St. Mary utilise cette nouvelle technologie pour établir ultimement un plan d’action thérapeutique basé sur un dialogue entre les patients, les proches aidants et leurs équipes soignantes. Le dépistage des symptômes en temps réel avec e-IMPAQc est susceptible de réduire la gravité et la prévalence des symptômes des patients atteints de cancer. Une fois que ce modèle sera bien implanté et pleinement opérationnel au service d’oncologie de St. Mary, il pourra être adapté en soutien aux initiatives de soins axés sur le patient dans d’autres établissements de soins de la province.

En tant qu’hôpital d’enseignement affilié à l’Université McGill, le Centre hospitalier de St. Mary joue un rôle de premier plan dans la formation des professionnels de la médecine de demain. Nous avons l’un des programmes de résidence les plus prisés au Canada, qui offre aux étudiants une expérience incomparable. Nos diplômés réussissent brillamment dans une multitude de domaines, mais nous sommes particulièrement fiers de rappeler que le Dr David Saint-Jacques, qui a fait sa résidence en médecine de famille au Centre hospitalier de St. Mary avant de se joindre à l’Agence spatiale canadienne, est en mission dans l’espace pour une durée de 6 ½ mois. Le 3 décembre 2018, le Dr Saint-Jacques s’est envolé du Kazakhstan vers la Station spatiale internationale, où il réalise maintenant toute une série d’expériences scientifiques. Avec la population vieillissante et le plus jeune âge des patients qui reçoivent leur première prothèse, la chirurgie orthopédique est devenue l’un des secteurs de la santé qui connaît la croissance la plus rapide. Le Centre hospitalier de St. Mary est l’un des établissements qui pratiquent le plus de remplacements de la hanche et du genou dans la province, avec plus de 700 l’an dernier seulement! Sous la direction respectée du Dr Ron Dimentberg, St. Mary a mis en place une stratégie pour améliorer l’accès, l’efficacité et les résultats d’un remplacement articulaire, et est devenu un centre reconnu pour son excellence en arthroplastie. Impacting lives through Research & Technology…Improving the Patient’s Experience of Cancer Care
St. Mary’s scientists are leading a new initiative - the e–IMPAQc Project - to assess the emotional and physical symptoms of a patient in real time using a cellular phone or tablet. Building on a mobile application (APP) which was developed at our McGill affiliated Research Institute of the MUHC, our team of St. Mary’s scientists and clinicians are using this new technology to ultimately establishment of a therapeutic plan of action resulting from dialogue between patients, caregivers, and their healthcare teams. The screening of symptoms in real time using e-IMPAQc, has the potential to reduce the severity and prevalence of symptoms in cancer patients. Once this template is established and fully operational in St. Mary’s Oncology Department, it can be adapted to support patient-centered care initiatives in other patient care facilities across the province.
Setting the Standards Beyond our Borders…St. Mary’s Doctor on mission in outer space
As a McGill University affiliated teaching hospital, St. Mary’s plays a leading role in shaping medical professionals of the future. We have one of the most sought-after residency training programs in Canada, providing students with an unparalleled experience. While our graduates achieve great success in a wide variety of fields, we are proud to share that Dr. David Saint-Jacques, who did his Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary’s before going on to join the Canadian Space Agency, is currently on a 6 1/2-month mission in outer space. Dr. St. Jacques blasted off on December 3rd 2018 from Kazakhstan to board the International Space Station where he is currently conducting a series of scientific experiments.
