Motivation Stay in motion for life! Due to demographic change, the compensation of mobility impair-ments has become increasingly important. Intelligent technologies for motor rehabilita-tion are the key to regain an independent ability to move.

Aims and methods The BMBF funded project BeMobil joins 18 research partners from science, hospitals and industry. Technical aids, sensor and training systems are optimized by human-machine interaction strategies and thus contribute to an efficient, effective and accepted physical rehabilitation. User perspectives, everyday suitability and data protection will be particu-larly considered in an interdisciplinary way. The technological innovations enable affected persons to an independent life.

Disease patterns 1. Neurology - Stroke - Paraplegia - Traumatic brain injury 2. Orthopedics - Scoliosis - Lower extremity amputations

Nine cross-sectional projects work on overarching themes:

Q1: Usability and Motivation Strategies Q2: Inertial sensor systems + visual, marker-less MoCap Q3: Telemedicine and new media Q4: Ethical, social and legal implications Q5: Stimulation systems for FES Q6: Multimodal Feedback and Virtual Reality Q7: Transfer phase development Q8: Central stimulation through movement visualization Q9: Coordination of the network

Research structure

The technology development is differentiated in three thematic subprojects A, B and C:

A1: Hand-Neuroprosthesis A2: Arm-Neuroprosthesis A3: Hybrid neuroprosthetic-robotic therapy A4: Haptic robot-assisted telerehabilitation A5: VR-based mirror therapy B1: Robotics for lower limb with VR Biofeedback + FES B2: Adaptive FES-based gait support B3: Lightweight robotic system for gait rehabilitation C1: Optimization of prosthetic alignments C2: Motivation strategies in orthotic care
