STEM Prepares Scouts For Today AndTheir Future.

The BSA’s STEM initiative allows Scouts to explore STEM-related concepts andlearn how STEM knowledge is used in

everyday life and the professional world. The aim is to expose youth to new

opportunities and help build interest inthe STEM-related careers that are so

crucial to our future economy. To support this exploration of STEM, theBSA debuted the Nova and Supernova

Awards program. The initiative promotesenthusiasm towards STEM and offers

recognition and advancement for Scoutsabsorbed in STEM learning.

Events

The STEM Committee hosted over 21events in 2017 including Scoutbotics,Boy Scout and Cub Scout Nova days,

STEM University (UMSL, SEMO, SIUC,SIUE), and Cub Scout STEM Days.

These events give Scouts an outlet tolearn from professionals in the field while

earning badges. In addition to theseevents, STEM hosted it's 3rd Annual

Einstein Dinner recognizing theaccomplishments of 89 Supernova

award recipients .

Invention Trailer The STEM Mobile Invention Lab visited

over 30 sites, providing Scouts and otheryouth with a new outlet to enjoy STEM.

Because of this effort, the Invention Labis now available through reservations at

district events, meetings and more.
