  • All appropriate equipment will be supplied including wetsuits, spray tops

    and buoyancy aids. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to

    use it.

    Please bring a drink, lunch, swimming costume, towel, sun hat/block, warm

    top/hat and shoes that can get wet each day.

    Transport from the Garrison to the club will be provided on most weeks;

    please enquire on booking.

    We are also on the lookout for some parents to help us with general shore

    duties at the sessions. Please let us know when booking if you are

    interested in helping out.

    Catterick Garrison Sailing Club has a large fleet of modern dinghies suitable

    for novice sailors, families and experienced racers. It also has a large stock

    of wetsuits and buoyancy aids for members’ use.

    The Garrison Sailing Club operates out of Thornton Steward Sailing Club

    located at Moor Lane, Thornton Steward, HG4 4BQ. The Club is 8km South

    of Catterick Garrison and 8km West of Bedale at Gr SE 1818812, OS Sheet

    99. The setting is idyllic, with a well furnished clubhouse complete with

    changing facilities, showers, a kitchen and veranda.

    Families and military group annual membership fees are very reasonably

    Young People Skills Day. Mountain Bike session for 10yrs+. (8 spaces available). Suitable for children and young people who can competently ride a bike. They must have a reasonable level of fitness. The session will run from 10am-2pm. It will be a local trail route exploring Wensleydale/Swaledale. 11th September Family Cycling Day: Family activity (12 spaces available) Suitable for adults and children 7+yrs. All should be confident on a bike but is suitable for those new to MTB. Must have a reasonable fitness level. Meet at our premises in the National Park Centre Hawes. Transported to start point and cycle back to the centre. 10am-2pm 18th September Additional Information: Bikes/helmets can be borrowed. Transport to Hawes/Leyburn is available. Lunch grab bags can be provided for £5. Participants must bring a small ruck sack, drinks bottle, waterproof jacket. All participants must wear appropriate clothing for cycling and the weather on the day. Gloves and sturdy shoes. Bikes/transport and lunch bags must be booked at the same time as the place is booked at a cost of £5.     In partnership with North Yorkshire Sport we are hoping to

    start a ‘Back To Netball’ class. If you’ve enjoyed playing

    netball in the past, or would like to learn from scratch this

    could be for you. We will be looking to provide coaching

    staff and childcare. We can run this in the morning,

    afternoon or evening depending on preference. If you are

    Free Bike Maintenance Sessions

    The Catterick Garrison Bike Library as well as repurposing

    donated bike and loaning them back to the community for

    free we are going to be delivering six bike maintenance

    sessions for the community. Learning how to take care of

    your bike. From simple puncture repair to ensuring the

    brakes and gears work to things a little more advanced.

    Catterick Blokart Club

    We have received funding from North Yorkshire Sport to set up our new Blokart

    Satellite Club. This is an exciting new project that will see us working with young

    people and adults in the area as we develop the club over the coming year.

    The Blokart is the most popular single design Mini Land Yacht that is used

    throughout Europe and the rest of the World, it is fast, safe and so much fun to sail.

    Over the coming months we will be running several taster sessions in the area at

    different venues depending on the weather and tide times. We may shorten sessions

    to allow more to participate if take up is high.

    Once established we will start to

    run the club on a regular basis

    throughout the year for adults

    and young people.
