Smart Access System with Push-button Start

■ Entering the vehicle

Grip the driver’s door handle to unlock thedoor. Grip the passenger’s door handle tounlock all the doors.

Make sure to touch the sensor on theback of the handle.The doors cannot be unlocked for 3 sec-onds after the doors are locked.

The following operations can be performed simply by carrying the electronic key on yourperson, for example in your pocket. (The driver should always carry the electronic key.)For details on starting the engine, see page 22.

■Exiting the vehicle

Touch the lock sensor (the indentation onthe upper part of the door handle) to lockall the doors.

■Opening the trunk

Press the button.If the vehicle is equipped with powertrunk opener and closer, the trunk lidautomatically opens fully.

■Switching the door unlock functionIt is possible to set which doors the entry function unlocks using the wireless remote con-trol.

Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” switch off.

When the indicator light on the key surface is not on, press and hold ,

or for approximately 5 seconds while pressing and holding . The setting changes each time an operation is performed, as shown below. (Whenchanging the setting continuously, release the buttons, wait for at least 5 seconds, and

repeat step .)

To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm, unlock the doors using the wirelessremote control and open and close a door once after the settings have been changed. (If

a door is not opened within 60 seconds after is pressed, the doors will be lockedagain and the alarm will automatically be set.)In case that the alarm is triggered, immediately stop the alarm. (P.17)

Theft Deterrent System

■Engine immobilizer system

The indicator light flashes after the “STARTSTOP ENGINE” switch has been turned offto indicate that the system is operating.The indicator light stops flashing after the“START STOP ENGINE” switch has beenturned to ACCESSORY or IGNITIONON mode to indicate that the system hasbeen canceled.

■Alarm

The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is detected.

To set the alarm: Close the doors, trunk and hood, and lock all the doors. The system will be set automaticallyafter 30 seconds.

The indicator light changes from being on to flashing when the system is set.

To deactivate or stop the alarm: ● Unlock the doors or open the trunk.● Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” switch to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode, or

start the engine. (The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few seconds.)

Driving Position Memory (if equipped)

■ Entering a position to memory

Adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and outside rear view mirrors to the desiredpositions. (When memorizing the front passenger’s seat, adjust the front passenger’sseat to the desired positions.)

While pressing the “SET” button, or within 3seconds after the “SET” button is pressed,press button “1”, “2” or “3” until the signalbeeps.If the selected button has already been pre-set, the previously recorded position will beoverwritten.

■ Recalling the memorized position

Press button “1”, “2” or “3” to recall thedesired position.

■ Linking driving position memory with door unlock operation (driver’s sideonly)

While pressing the button to recall the posi-tion, press the driver’s door lock switch(either lock or unlock) until the signalbeeps.The driving position is recalled when thedriver’s door is unlocked using the entryfunction or wireless remote control and thedriver’s door is opened.

Your preferred driving position (the position of the driver’s seat, steering wheel and out-side rear view mirrors) can be memorized and recalled by pressing a button.The same buttons are found on the front passenger’s side, allowing the position of thefront passenger’s seat to be memorized (if equipped).

Push the mirror back in the direction of thevehicle’s rear.

■ When either “L” or “R” of the mirror select switch is selected, the outside rear view mir-rors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle is reversing in order to give abetter view of the ground. To disable this function, select neither “L” nor “R”.

■ If the mirror angle adjustment switch is operated while the linked mirror function is inoperation, the angle and position of the mirrors can be remembered, and the mirrors willoperate at the angle adjusted to the last time the linked mirror function was operated.However, because the mirrors move based on the angle they are in when the linked mir-ror function is not operating, the mirror angle when the linked mirror function is operat-ing will also be changed if the mirrors are adjusted while the function is not operating.

Stop the vehicle.

Release the brake pedal and check that “POWER ON” on the multi-information dis-play is off.

■Changing “START STOP ENGINE” switch modes

Modes can be changed by pressing the “START STOP ENGINE” switch with the brakepedal released. (The mode changes each time the switch is pressed.)

■ If your vehicle has to be stopped in an emergencyOnly in an emergency, such as if it becomes impossible to stop the vehicle in the normal way,stop the vehicle using the following procedure:

Steadily step on the brake pedal with both feet and firmly depress it.Do not pump the brake pedal repeatedly as this will increase the effort required to slowthe vehicle.

Shift the shift lever to N.If the shift lever is shifted to N

After slowing down, stop the vehicle in a safe place by the road.

Stop the engine.If the shift lever cannot be shifted to N

Keep depressing the brake pedal with both feet to reduce vehicle speed as much aspossible.

To stop the engine, press and hold the“START STOP ENGINE” switch for 2 con-secutive seconds or more, or press it briefly3 times or more in succession.

Stop the vehicle in a safe place by the road.

Automatic Transmission

■Shifting the shift lever

While the “START STOP ENGINE” switch is in IGNITION ON mode, move the shiftlever with the brake pedal depressed.When shifting the shift lever between P and D, make sure that the vehicle is com-pletely stopped.

■Shift position purpose

*1: Shifting the shift lever to D allows the system to select a gear suitable for the driving con-ditions.Setting the shift lever to D is recommended for normal driving.

*2: Selecting shift ranges using S mode restricts the upper limit of the possible gear ranges,controls engine braking force, and prevents unnecessary upshifting.

■ Shift ranges and their functions Automatically selecting gears between S1 and S6 according to vehicle speed and driv-

ing conditions. But the gear is limited according to selected shift range. You can choose from 6 levels of engine braking force. A lower shift range will provide greater engine braking force than a higher shift range,

and the engine speed will also increase.

Eco Driving Indicator LightEco Driving Indicator Light availabilitycan be customized. The default settingis off.During Eco-friendly acceleration (Ecodriving), Eco Driving Indicator Lightwill turn on.When the acceleration exceeds Zoneof Eco driving, or when the vehicle isstopped, the light turns off.

Press the Automatic High Beamswitch.

The Automatic High Beam indicatorwill come on when the headlights areturned on automatically to indicatethat the system is active.

The Automatic High Beam uses an in-vehicle camera sensor to assess the brightness ofstreetlights, the lights of oncoming and preceding vehicles, etc., and automatically turnshigh beam on or off as necessary.

While driving on a road that has lane markers, this system recognizes the white lanemarkers using a camera as a sensor to alert the driver when the vehicle deviates from itslane.If the system judges that the vehicle may deviate from its lane, it alerts the driver usingbeeping and indications on the multi-information display.

The inside of the lane lines turn white whenthe right and left lane markers are recog-nized.

Turns the intuitive parking assist on/offWhen on, the indicator light comes on toinform the driver that the system is oper-ational.

The distance from your vehicle to nearby obstacles when parallel parking or maneuver-ing into a garage is measured by the sensors and communicated via the multi-informa-tion display, navigation system screen or Lexus Display Audio system screen and abuzzer. Always check the surrounding area when using this system.

Subscribers have the following Safety Connect services available:

● Automatic Collision Notification*In case of either airbag deployment or severe rear-end collision, the system is designedto automatically call the response center. The responding agent receives the vehicle’slocation and attempts to speak with the vehicle occupants to assess the level of emer-gency. If the occupants are unable to communicate, the agent automatically treats thecall as an emergency, contacts the nearest emergency services provider to describe thesituation, and requests that assistance be sent to the location.

● Stolen Vehicle LocationIf your vehicle is stolen, Safety Connect can work with local authorities to assist them inlocating and recovering the vehicle. After filing a police report, call the Safety Connectresponse center at 1-800-25-LEXUS (1-800-255-3987) and follow the prompts forSafety Connect to initiate this service.In addition to assisting law enforcement with recovery of a stolen vehicle, Safety-Con-nect-equipped vehicle location data may, under certain circumstances, be shared withthird parties to locate your vehicle. ● Emergency Assistance Button (SOS)In the event of an emergency on the road, push the “SOS” button to reach the SafetyConnect response center. The answering agent will determine your vehicle’s location,assess the emergency, and dispatch the necessary assistance required.

If you accidentally press the “SOS” button, tell the response-center agent that you arenot experiencing an emergency.

● Enhanced Roadside Assistance Enhanced Roadside Assistance adds GPS data to the already included warranty-basedLexus roadside service.Subscribers can press the “SOS” button to reach a Safety Connect response-centeragent, who can help with a wide range of needs, such as: towing, flat tire, fuel delivery, etc.For a description of the Roadside Assistance services and their limitations, please see theSafety Connect Terms and Conditions, which are available at Lexus.com.

■ Subscription

After you have signed the Telematics Subscription Service Agreement and are enrolled,you can begin receiving services. A variety of subscription terms is available for purchase. Each time “Apps” is activated, the system checks for updates. When there are no updatesavailable, the main menu screen will be displayed right after a screen indicating thatupdates are being checked for has been displayed.

■SubscriptionApps will be available on a trial period included upon purchase of a new vehicle. User regis-tration is required to start using the service.When a trial period has elapsed after purchasing a new vehicle, a fee will be charged torenew the contract. ■Function achieved by using DCM and the navigation system

● Lexus InsiderLexus Insider is an optional service that can send audio messages, or articles, to partici-pating owners’ vehicles via the navigation system. Potential Lexus Insider subjects mightinclude, for example, Lexus vehicle technology tips, updates on regional Lexus events, oraudio excerpts from Lexus Magazine articles. Up to 20 articles can be stored at a time.You may opt out of receiving Lexus Insider messages at any time.

Touch the Lexus emblem side of theelectronic key to the “START STOPENGINE” switch. The “START STOP ENGINE” switchwill turn to IGNITION ON mode.When the smart access system withpush-button start is deactivated in cus-tomization setting, the “START STOPENGINE” switch will turn to ACCES-SORY mode.
