Aging Airplane Safety Rule & Widespread Fatigue Damage (WFD)
1111
The FAA published its final rule regarding the WFD on November 15, 2010. The rule, which takes effect January 14, 2011, encompasses changes to 14 CFR 25, 14 CFR 26, and 14 CFR121 and 129. It requires manufacturers to establish a limit of validity (LOV) for the engineering data that supports the structural maintenance program.Once an airplane reaches the LOV it must be retired from operation. The LOV values for the airplanes listed below were submitted by Boeing to the FAA on July 12, 2012, and were approved by the FAA at various dates in August 2012. These LOVs have been published in "Airworthiness Limitations (AWLs) and Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR)" documents, which are now available on MyBoeingFleet.com.
