Coronado Cougar Athletics Weekly Newsletter Monday, October 22 nd , 2018 www.chscougarathletics.com Varsity Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins At Coronado for the “DIG PINK” game, Kennedi Steele had 12 digs and 10 kills, and Sasha Bolla had 12 kills as the Cougars swept the Gators, 25-9, 25-19, 25-18. Cassandra Smits-Van Oyen had 20 assists, six digs and two aces for Coronado, and teammate Ashlynn Ammerman had four aces, three kills and two blocks. At Basic, Dallas Balanay-Flores had 25 assists and two aces for the Cougars in a 25-19, 25-23, 25-7 win over the Wolves. Sasha Bolla added 16 kills, three aces and nine digs for Coronado. Girl’s Tennis Wins Back To Back State Titles Coronado’s girls tennis team left no doubt about its place as Nevada’s top team Friday, rolling to its second consecutive Class 4A state title with a 15-3 win over Palo Verde in the championship match at Bishop Manogue. Blythe Buntrock and Kennedy Buntrock each went 3-0 in singles, and Madison Smith was 2-0 as the Cougars swept the nine singles sets and cruised to the win. With five new players this season that were not part of the 2017 championship team, head coach David Willingham had to work with his team digging deeper to repeat in 2018. “To stay undefeated for two straight years and to come back and defend the title is so tough,” Willingham said. “But we had some good newcomers and veterans playing so it was a great combination moving forward.” Blythe Buntrock is one of the newcomers after having spent the lion’s share of her career playing tournaments. “This was my first year playing high school tennis so it’s been a really good experience winning all together,” Buntrock said. “Knowing that everyone pitched in for it, it’s the coolest.” As a four-year member of the program, senior Jessica Duff has watched the Cougars change quite a bit during her tenure with the team. “I was really proud of us last year when we won because I knew we had not won a lot before that,” Duff said. “I wasn’t expecting to come back and win, but I was expecting us to come back and fight our hardest.” Ava Nhiasi and Sidra Wohlwend went 2-0 in doubles for Coronado (18-0), and teammates Megan King and Paige Furin were 2-1. The boys lost to Palo, 11-7, in the semi-finals.

The Coronado athletic department is excited to announce our new video highlights app, Rapid Replay! Rapid Replay is a fun, easy, platform to capture, upload, watch, and share all of your favorite Cougar highlights. We will also sync, upload and publish your videos on www.chscougarathletics.com into a highlight video for each game/ event. Get started today:

1. Download the free Rapid Replay app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

2. Attend sporting events and open the app. The event you are attending should pop-up when you go to the camera and touch “New Game” at the top of the screen. If your game isn’t an option, you can create a game. We have most all of our games uploaded to the site, but some of our freshman & JV games have yet to be added.

3. The in-app camera is designed to never miss a highlight. When filming, just tap “STOP” after a great play and the app will automatically clip the last 15 seconds of action, so all you’re left with is the highlight. What’s more, when multiple fans film the same play, the app will sync together a super-highlight so you’re able to see every angle filmed once the highlights are uploaded onto our website!

4. Have fun with the app! Watch your favorite highlights and share via text or social media right from the app!

Thank you for your support and Go Cougars!
