CONCERNSTHE

none of them provide a holistic development experience

The Shabab 2030 Awareness roundtable session was hosted at CH9 office where Bahrainientrepreneurs got the chance to network and discuss ways of collaborating and sharing ideasto further develop the startup ecosystem in the MENA region. The roundtable was moderatedby MBC Al Amal’s Mariam Farag, who lead the discussion talking about the Entrepreneurshipinitiatives that focus on supporting the Arab youth in the region.
Seedstars GCC was organized in partnership with CH9, the Economic Development Board,StartUp Bahrain, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. WNNA was CrownedGCC’s Most Promising Startup at Seedstars GCC. Bahraini startup, WNNA was the winner forthe Most Promising Seedstars in the GCC. Not only that, but they get to fly to Switzerland inorder to pitch for an equity investment of up to $1 million next year!
CH9 and its Chairman Mohammed ALTAWASH participated in A9eel as a jury member. A9eel byTamkeen is a nationwide campaign to develop the right approach to work. It is a movement forchange towards positive work attitudes. To build a generation of men and women of characterwho are led by integrity and conviction.

CH9s Executive Director Maryam ALSAEGH participated in “Women in Entrepreneurship”Workshop which was held on October 5th in Dhahran Techno Valley. Where the discussionsfocused on identifying the major internal & external challenges that face womenentrepreneurs; and most importantly, developing strategies to overcome the top challenges,and the roles of the ecosystem players in enabling its success.
ARAMCO Innovation TT held the fourth think tank in CH9. Where leaders gather to create athriving innovation ecosystem and center. And through seeking intellectual collaboration ofleaders and professionals that are actively working across sectors to build a sustainableecosystem that will become a cutting edge blueprint of innovation.
Celebrating AWS Summit, CH9 took part in Bahrain Technology Week Pavilion where a range oftechnology, innovation and startup themed activities took place in Bahrain Bay.

In Invest in Bahrain Forum, CH9 and YoStartups showcased their opportunities through the1001 Startup Ideas Program that will be presented to university students in Bahrain during thesecond half of 2018.
The eCommerce Forum and Exhibition promoted the adoption of eCommerce practices amongsmall and medium-sized enterprises and newly established businesses in order to level up thecommercial and service performance and educate business owners on the safe use of thelatest eCommerce tools and applications, enabling them to compete in global markets
MEPEC 2017 was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman AlKhalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Innovation & CommercializationZone (ICZ) was a unique platform devoted to the demonstration of new techniques. Startups,new ventures and scale-ups had the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their creative solutionand MVP at the Middle East’s largest audience of Process Engineers. CH9 partnered up withDhahran Techno Valley & YoStartups, The partners held a bootcamp for Startups who arespecialized in the Oil & Gas sector.

GEW is more than just an awareness campaign supported by world leaders and celebrityentrepreneurs. It is about unleashing ideas and doing what it takes to bring them to life—spotting opportunities, taking risks, solving problems, being creative, building connections andlearning from both failure and success. It is about thinking big and making your mark on theworld—doing good while doing well at the same time. CH9 collaborated once more to presentthe benefits and effects of being an entrepreneur to build a better ecosystem.
General Senses was the winner of Seedstars Kuwait where eight other startups pitched in frontof the jury, which included Redha Behbehani, Kuwait University, Abdulaziz Hayat, Faith Capital,Mohamed Altawash, CH9, and Anurag Agarwal, ArzanVC. Coming in second place wasPantrybee, a startup whose culinary site makes it easier for users to cook at home, offeringmealkits, utensils, kitchenware and more, and Zahhab - a student community that provides allnecessary academic assistance to university students and professors, grabbed the last spot inthe top three.
Seedstars MENA Summit took place on December 14 in CH9 where 9 selected startup winnersof Seedstars local events from around the region were invited to present their ideas to adiverse audience. 9 startups from the MENA region showcased their projects and how they canimpact the region’s development by leveraging innovative technologies.

weather, time, trends etc. The startup offers user
to look for these personalized recommendations
through its web and mobile apps. WNNA is all
about what you WNNA do, it’s your life dial pad
where you can find actionable information without
entering a single keyword. WNNA gives you
personalized recommendations curated from
different sources with the ability to take
actions through one of it's action partner like
ordering food or reserving a table at a restaurant,
requesting a ride or even finding the nearest gas
station and ATM machine.
Abdulla Alradhi, Akalati Founder mentions that
he started working on Akalati when he noticed a
huge gap in the F&B industry and was further
encouraged by the success stories of Talabat,
Souq.com and Careem that have established a
solid basement for tech startups in the GCC
region and opened up the doorways for other
startups to flourish in the region. Akalati is a
digital marketplace meant to digitize custom
orders, allowing restaurants, bakeries, and
caterers to sell their services online, and giving
the customers the ability to order online. Akalati
gives users the ability to customize stress that
comes with planning for events, parties, or simple
picnics.

He is The Chairman of CH9, an entrepreneur with more than 20 years of accomplishment-laden
experiences in the GCC and global investment in real estate and construction fields within the
private sector as well as the public sector. Has build the companies from ground zero and taken
them to successful exit through IPO. Currently runs a wealth management firm for Ultra High
Net Worth Individuals based in Bahrain and London. The firm provides alternative investment
vehicles.
DR. ABDULMALEK ALJABER
Founder & Vice Chairman
A full time angel investor, believing that Arab
Youth can contribute to global innovation.
Invested in more than 20 start-ups and focused
on building an innovation friendly Eco-system in
MENA. He was leading the two most prominent
telecom operators MENA. Managed to turn
around the companies in term of profitability,
commercial strategy, capacity building of the
human cadre as well.
