PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK Please call the par-

ish office if you or a member of your family is hospitalized

or confined to home because of illness. A member of the

parish staff or a Eucharistic Minister will be happy to visit

and bring Communion.

VISITATION COMMITTEE We have developed a

group of volunteers to visit our Shut-ins for a social mo-

ment. The thoughts that guide this ministry are to go have a

cup of tea and to listen. Members of the committee and

parish staff, will be happy to arrange for a Eucharistic Min-

ister to bring Holy Communion. Please call the office to

CORPUS CHRISTI “OUR FEAST DAY”

The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ This feast originated in 1244 in Liege, France and

has been celebrated throughout the Church ever since.

In many places there are outdoor processions. We

might joke and say “Jesus is going out for his yearly

walk!” but what a blessing for our community that we

would honour him and with no greater affirmation than

that he is our Lord and we celebrate that publicly.

The Church proclaims its belief in the “very pres-

ence” of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, following his

words, “This is My Body; This is My Blood”. Our reli-

gious practices confirm this in the Sanctuary lamp, al-

ways lit; and our reverence by genuflecting before the

TABERNACLE when we come to Church, proclaiming by

our bended knee that Jesus is there, body and soul.

Sometimes we give short shift to our Lord. Some-

times we treat our Churches like they are multi-

purpose rooms or gathering spaces rather than as plac-

es to pray and adore. One hymn that puts forth our

teaching would be “this is holy ground; we are standing

on holy ground”. It is good to be open to others but

“catching up with the news” might be best put off ‘til

after Mass.

We are called to teach what we believe and pass it

on. The best way to accomplish this is to model it.

Prayer - Adoration - Respect for the Lord in the

Blessed Sacrament should be our goal.

The Procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi This weekend we celebrate the titular feast of the

parish. This feast is almost 1000 years old and cele-

brates, “The Body and Blood of Christ”. In past times,

the tradition of a public procession with the Mon-

strance with Christ through the streets of the Parish

(town) was the normative form of praise to Jesus. We

will bring this to fruition with “a Walk with Jesus”

around the edge of the parish (Curry, McKay, Dominion

& Cabana) after the 12 noon Mass. We will finish with

benediction and a reception. God bless all of us.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Sleepwalk, our fundraiser to provide beds for those who have none. Our North of 60 project is now completed and your generosity provided more than 300 bags of oatmeal. The shipping contain-er is now being filled with food and assorted goods, collected throughout the county, to be sent to our friends in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut. Fr. Lukasz, from Gjoa Haven, will be visiting Windsor, and if anyone would like to meet him and hear his stories, join us Saturday July 7, from 1-3pm, at the old Blessed Sacrament Church, Prince Road.

CATHOLIC MEN'S FELLOWSHIP For over 20 years now, men of all ages and from all over Wind-sor/Essex County meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 8:30am to help each other grow in their love of God and neigh-bour. Come and experience time set apart for prayer, reflection, reading and relaxation with the Lord, while sitting in contem-plation on the shore of Lake Erie at Holy Names Villa. The natu-ral setting of Lake Erie will enhance your reflection on the wa-ter theme in scripture as you recognize the presence of Jesus with you during the calm as well as the stormy periods in your life. This weekend will include presentations on the water theme and will conclude on Sunday with Eucharist and lunch. This weekend is limited to 8 people. A non-refundable deposit of $75 is required to register and will be on a first come basis.
