The use of the UKAS Accreditation Symbol (hereinafter UKAS symbol) and/or Alcumus ISOQAR logo (hereinafter ISOQAR logo) is only permitted if in accordance with the rules set out in this document.

• Only the approved UKAS Symbol and/or the ISOQAR logo shall be used

• The UKAS symbol shall only be used in conjunction with the ISOQAR logo and under no circumstances can it be used on its own. The UKAS symbol and ISOQAR logo together must only be used for an accredited standard (refer to the issued certificate)

How to display the UKAS Symbol and/or ISOQAR logo

• The UKAS symbol and ISOQAR logo(s) shall only be used in conjunction with the relevant certificate number (e.g. 1122 – as illustrated below) except when using the ISOQAR logo on a vehicle

• The words ‘Certificate Number’ or ‘Cert No.’ shall be included before the digits and place centrally underneath the logo

• The standard(s) for which Alcumus ISOQAR issued a certificate shall be placed centrally underneath the Certificate Number

• If there are multiple standards certified by Alcumus ISOQAR, they may be listed one under the other

• Or the Standards can be combined within a line, separated by a comma

Incorrect Usage Examples

Size and Colour

The UKAS Symbol and/or ISOQAR logo shall be displayed only in the appropriate form, size and colour detailed in this document. The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR logos may be reproduced in either black and white or the colour scheme as illustrated in this document. Alternatively, the UKAS symbols and/or ISOQAR logos may be printed or displayed in a single colour, which is the predominant ink colour of the document, or, in the case of a pre-printed letterhead, the predominant ink colour of the letterhead

Where the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos are reproduced electronically the following applies:

• UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos are to be reproduced so that infilling does not occur.

• there is no degradation and/or distortion UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logo graphic.

• electronic versions of the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos shall be obtained from Alcumus ISOQAR.

The following is permitted:

• Embossed, relief, or die-stamped versions may be used.

• UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos may be reproduced as watermarks

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos should normally have a minimum height (excluding the accreditation number) of 20mm or 100 pixels. Any enlargement or reduction must retain the same proportions as those of the masters provided by Alcumus ISOQAR. The UKAS symbol and ISOQAR Logos and the accreditation number should be considered as a single entity for purposes of enlargement or reduction.

In exceptional circumstances, which are usually dictated by reason of space limitation or cost, the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos may be reproduced at a reduced height. However, the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos must be legible, with no infilling.

When the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos are printed on an unfolded portion of stationery sized no greater than A4, it shall be displayed in a size no larger than 30mm high. On larger portions of unfolded stationery, the size may be proportionately increased.

Restrictions on the use of the UKAS Symbols and Alcumus ISOQAR logo

The organisation shall not use the UKAS symbol on its own. The UKAS symbol may only be used in conjunction with the ISOQAR logos as illustrated in this document.

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos shall not be used in such a way as to suggest that Alcumus ISOQAR certify activities outside of the certified scope or in any other misleading manner.

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos shall not be used in any way that might mislead the reader about the status of a certified organisation.

The organisation shall not use the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos in a way that might contravene the conditions laid down in this document.

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos shall not be used in such a way as to imply that Alcumus accepts responsibility for activities carried out under the scope of certification.

It is the responsibility of every certified organisation to minimise the risk of a client/reader being misled as to the extent and limitations of its certified scope, whether it be in relation to quotations for work, work being undertaken, results being reported, the use of sub-contractors or in any publicity material.

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos for management system(s) certification shall not be included on notices, labels, documents or written announcements affixed to or otherwise appearing on goods or products nor on the vehicles or flags of thecertified organisation. This restriction shall also apply to primary (e.g. blister packs, bottles, cans etc) packaging and promotional products.

The UKAS symbol shall not be displayed on any vehicle, on buildings and flags.

The UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos shall not be used on laboratory test, calibration, test, diagnostic or inspection reportsor reference material producers.

Upon suspension or withdrawal of certification, a certified organisation shall immediately cease to advertise certification, and this shall include the removal of the UKAS symbol and/or ISOQAR Logos displayed on websites and any associated marketing materials and documents.

Where a certified organisation wishes to make reference to its certification, it shall not refer to themselves as being ‘Accredited’. The organisation is ‘Certified’ whereas Alcumus ISOQAR are ‘Accredited’.

The Product Certification UKAS symbol may only be used in connection with a product, process or service certified under an accredited product certification scheme.

UKCA / UKNI markings are to be affixed at the end of the factory production control (FPC) phase and must be followed by the identification number (of the Approved Body) Alcumus ISOQAR.

UKCA / UKNI marking and the identification number (of the Approved Body) may be followed by a pictogram or any other mark indicating, for example, the category of use. However, such markings must not deceive third parties as to the meaning and form of the UKCA / UKNI marking.

Such marks may, therefore, only be affixed to the product, its packaging or the documentation accompanying the product on condition that the legibility and visibility of the UKCA / UKNI marking are not thereby reduced.

SIZE / COLOUR (form and dimensions of the UKCA / UKNI marking and the Approved Body Identification Number)

The UKCA / UKNI conformity marking according to The Construction Products Regulation 2011 (retained EU law EUR 305/2011) as amended by the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 and as per Annex ZA 3.1 of BS EN 1090-1 shall consist of the initials ‘UKCA’ / UKNI taking the following forms:

The Alcumus ISOQAR Approved Body Number 513 should be displayed under each logo.

UKNI logo only needs to be used if the product is to be placed on the Northern Ireland Market and must be accompanied by CE Marking i.e. Dual Certification (See the next page of the document for application of the ID Number regards CE Marking; to apply for CE Marking please contact Alcumus ISOQAR Customer Services).

UKCA / UKNI Sizes

The UKCA / UKNI mark should be at least 5mm in size and should appear on the packaging and on the product itself where this is practicable with the Alcumus ISOQAR Approved Body number in proportion typically as shown affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly. (The guidelines do not specify colour)

Instruction leaflets should also carry the UKCA / UKNI mark.

If the marking is reduced or enlarged, the proportions given in the above graduated drawing must be respected.

The various components of the UKCA / UKNI marking must have substantially the same vertical dimension, which may not be less than 5 mm and must be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly.

The UKCA / UKNI marking must be affixed to the product or to its data plate. However, where this is not possible or not warranted on account of the nature of the product, it must be affixed to the packaging, if any, and to the accompanying documents, where the legislation concerned provides for such documents.

The client shall not use the UKCA / UKNI mark on its own without the Alcumus ISOQAR identification number.

The client shall not make or permit any misleading statement regarding its UKCA / UKNI conformity marking.

The client shall not use or permit the use of the FPC Certification documentation or any part thereof in a misleading manner.

Upon suspension or withdrawal of its certification, the client shall discontinue using the Alcumus ISOQAR identification number logo on all advertising matter that contains a reference to certification according to the agreed timescale for use. (For example, product that was previously manufactured under the FPC).

Use of CE Mark

Use of superseded UKAS symbols and Alcumus ISOQAR logos

• The logos below have been replaced by the logo which appears on page 1 (also illustrated below). It has a different font and colour to the one above.

• There is no time constraint to replace logos with the new version, but we do request that the client endeavors to change the logos at a time convenient to themselves such as when producing new documents or variations to existing.

• Where the old logo is displayed on vehicles, its use may continue to the end of the vehicle’s use by the client but should not be used on any replacement vehicle or transferred to another vehicle.

• Stickers featuring the Alcumus ISOQAR logo and standard(s), which can be used on vehicles, can be purchased from Alcumus ISOQAR by downloading an order form here or by contacting the Finance Department.

• The transition arrangements for certified organisations to move to the new UKAS Accreditation Symbols are as follows:

• Digital Materials – 1 year from the date of launch (1st February 2022)

• Printed Materials – 2 years from the date of launch (1st February 2023

• Certificates – 3 years from the date of launch (1st February 2024)

The client shall amend all advertising materials when the scope of certification has been reduced, expanded or changed as perthe requirements of The Construction Products Regulation 2011 (retained EU law EUR 305/2011) as amended by the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 & BS EN 1090-1.

The client shall not imply that the certification (and the Alcumus ISOQAR identification number) applies to activities that are outside the scope of certification.

The client shall not use its certification (and the Alcumus ISOQAR identification number) in such a manner that would bring the Approved Body (Alcumus ISOQAR) and / or certification system or UKAS into disrepute and lose public trust.

Our auditors will check for the correct usage of Symbols, Logos and Approved Body Identification Numbers (UKCA / UKNI Marking under The Construction Products Regulation 2011 (retained EU law EUR 305/2011) as amended by the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 during normal, planned surveillance visits.

Separate Rules apply for those Clients who have CE Certification through our Notified Body ‘Partner’ OMNI; however, in practical terms they are similar with the ID Number ‘2819’ of the Notified Body to be used under the use of the CE Mark.

The appropriate National Highway Sector Scheme accreditation symbol (hereinafter NHSS symbol) may only be used by an organisation holding valid UKAS accredited certification. The National Highway Sector Scheme accreditation symbol must be relevant to the certificate.

Holders of certificates issued by Alcumus ISOQAR may use the appropriate NHSS symbol in accordance with the requirements of this document on stationery and publicity material or other items relevant to their certificate. The NHSS symbol(s) shall always be used in conjunction with the ISOQAR logo and UKAS symbol.

Certified organisations shall only use a NHSS symbol in conjunction with their relevant scheme number(s). The organisation’sscheme number(s) shall be printed centrally under the NHSS symbol. As indicated below, the accreditation number(s) are singleor double digit numbers which may also include letters where relevant; the numbers relate to the scheme numbers.

The NHSS symbol shall be displayed only in the appropriate form, size and colour detailed in this publication.

The NHSS symbol may be displayed on stationery:

(a) only if the ISOQAR logo and UKAS symbol is also shown;

(b) with no more prominence than the ISOQAR logo and UKAS symbol;

(c) and not more than once for each relevant NHSS certification

The NHSS symbol is to be reproduced in black and white.

Where the NHSS symbols are reproduced electronically the following shall apply:

(a) to be reproduced so that infilling does not occur

(b) degradation and/or distortion of graphic is avoided

The NHSS symbols shall not be used in such a way as to imply that NHSS, UKAS or Alcumus ISOQAR accepts responsibility for activities carried out under the scope of certification.

This restriction shall also apply to primary packaging and promotional products.

The NHSS symbols shall not be displayed on any vehicle, on buildings and flags, internal walls and doors and on exhibition stands.

Where a certified organisation wishes to make reference to its certification, it shall not refer to themselves as being ‘Accredited’. The organisation is ‘Certified’ whereas Alcumus ISOQAR are ‘Accredited’.
