No. of enrolment

• During the peak of offering the program, the number of students reached to 200 -250 but starting 5 years ago, we observed a decrease or plateau in the enrolment (<200) for both undergraduate and graduate programs

• It is worth noting that there is an increase in the enrolment of our MS program because of DOST Scholarship

What are the jobs of our graduates after graduation?

• Teaching faculty in different academic institutions offering Food Science

• QC/QA in different food industries in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao even abroad

• Production/Quality Supervisor

• R & D staff/supervisor/manager

• Extension workers in different Gov’t agencies

What are the jobs of our graduates after graduation?

• Technical staff in Government agencies (DOST,DOH,FDA, DTI, DA)

• Research staff in different research/academic institutions

• Entrepreneur/Businessman

What are the jobs of our graduates after graduation?

• Consultant in different NGO’s in the country /abroad

• Key Officials in Gov’t institutions as technical expert

• Sales Representative in different food products or medical products(medicines)

Strength of our graduates

• High capability in doing research because it is our culture.

• Our students got awards in scientific competitions; best/Outstanding paper/ poster in undergraduate and graduate competitions in local, regional and national level.

Strength of our graduates

• Obtained scholarships from national/international linkages for MS and PhD programs

• Our BSFT graduates can land a job immediately after graduation (90- 95%)

• They have the skill competency

• admired by their employers because of good working attitudes thus promotion will not take long

Weaknesses

• Limited access to different facilities/equipment since the department has limited number of equipment necessary to support instruction and research activities.

• The department has limited budget thus requests for equipment takes time considering there are items which are mostly needed (chemicals, culture media etc)

Expectations

• As administrator, I am expecting that MAFF can help us in the acquisition of the necessary equipment/facilities needed to improve our laboratory courses specifically on food analysis, food microbiology and food processing for the students to improve and enhance their training considering that conduct of hands-on exercises will give a better retention on them.
