From News 8

The lime-green envelopes from a company called Corporate Records Service is a scam.

“That’s bogus, and this company is not affiliated with the Department of State or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in any way, shape or form,” said Ron Ruman, with the Pennsylvania Department of State.

The form is called an annual minutes form and asks for information on shareholders, corporate directors and minutes from any meetings of shareholders in the past year.

“There’s no filing that a business must send to us that is called an annual meeting disclosure statement or annual meeting minutes at all,” said Ruman.

The Pennsylvania Department of State tells News 8 that it first started getting questions about this letter a few weeks ago.

The scammer sending out these letters asks victims to return it to Corporate Record Service at 6059 Allentown Blvd. in Harrisburg, No. 904. News 8 went to that addresses and found that it’s a UPS store, and No. 904 turns out to be a post office box.

The form also asks for a payment of $125. Not a huge amount of money--that would set off warning bells.

The letter also claims that any business that does not reply quickly will be listed in bad standing with the state-- another bogus claim.

The Chamber office is on the move! After 14 years in its current location at the rear of the Times Square building on Carlisle Street, the Chamber office will be moving to 1380 Biglerville Road in Gettysburg when our lease expires at the end of the year.

The representatives from Times Square Partnership have been terrific over the years. They have worked with us during our most challenging financial times. The board and staff extend much gratitude for their support of the Chamber.

When the Chamber first moved to 18 Carlisle Street, we did so because we needed additional space for staff. However, as many of you experienced change over the years, so did the Chamber. Programs have been changed, committees have been consolidated, and staff job duties have been shifted to allow for greater efficiency.

In addition, a greater presence on the Web and more electronic communications with our members has resulted in a drop in lobby traffic over the years. We no longer need all the office space we have. So, with that in mind, we are moving into office space that will better suit our needs.

A partnership opportunity presented itself earlier this year that is a great fit for the Chamber. Adams Electric Cooperative has excess space at its Gettysburg District office. By leasing almost half of that building, the Chamber will save money.

The new space will comfortably house our current staff with space left over to expand down the road, if needed. There will also be a small conference room that will allow us to continue holding committee meetings and “Lunch and Learn” programs, and a bonus of free parking!

While reviewing our office space options, one of the main priorities was that we save money. By partnering with Adams Electric and sharing a building, the savings will be significant. The other priority was adequate space for staff to function efficiently in order to continue providing the top notch service that you have come to expect.

Many of you will note this location is not in the Borough of Gettysburg. As a Chamber that represents all of Adams County, the location should provide easy access for more of our members, and be more centrally located in the county. We will remain in the greater Gettysburg area, and only a few miles from downtown.

We look forward to the change and hope that you will be patient with us in the coming months as we prepare to move our office. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Community Partners“Everything is Peachy in Gettysburg”by Walt Tuchalski, Member, Gettysburg Area Retail Merchants’ Association

Participating members of the Gettysburg Area Retail Merchants Association (GARMA) had a peach of a time at 1st Friday - Gettysburg Style, August 2, when everyone’s theme focused on the local peach harvest. Peach flavored drinks, ice cream, entrees, desserts and hospitality abounded throughout the Gettysburg Market. A good time was had by all who strolled the streets of

UpdatesThe Adams County Economic Education Foundation is a qualified Educational Improvement Organization to receive EITC donations from Pennsylvania businesses. Two of it’s programs, the Mentoring Program and the Adams County Career Fair have both been approved to be included in this tax credit program. Additionally, 17 volunteers are needed for the classroom instruction. The time requirement is a total of four to six hours to leave a lasting impression on 25 second grade students! Tigrett Corp.-Historic Leadership Training has designed a series of one-day leadership seminars that feature their hallmark case studies (historic role models). Managers get classroom training, with movie clips bringing the case studies to life. On September 23, at the Gettysburg Hotel, the Eisenhower leadership program will examine the general’s remarkable ability to build a “team of rivals” into a focused, multi-national, multi-services team for the D-Day landings in Europe. Program and registration details are available on-line at historicleadershiptraining.com.
