COUPLES FOR CHRIST MAROUBRA Who are we? We, the CFC (Couples For Christ) of Holy Family Parish Maroubra have been meeting at 2pm on every 2 nd Sunday of the month, either in the Parish Hall or our home. We sing songs of praise and worship and we pray for our intentions. We share our different experiences in encountering the obstacles in our lives. Whatever we share among the group stays within the group. We pray for the needs of the group. We share a reading in the bible relating to our experience. The group is very supportive of each other. This time of praise, worship and prayer is followed by fellowship. Everyone brings a dish to share if they can. The group also is guided by the Holy Spirit in our charitable works to help less fortunate people. For example, we raised $8K+ last year and we have the initial report and photos sent recently from Hayag Orphanage. This was the 2nd time the fundraising was done for this group. Hayag Orphanage receives no government assistance whatsoever and it is run by Catholic Nuns. We have also made previous donations of at least few thousand dollars via selling of raffle tickets and the proceeds of the funds have gone towards the youth group for the world youth day too to Janice in our church. We have been doing this for the last 12 years to help the needy in one way or another. In 2016, our fundraising was for 2 projects to assist a shelter from domestic violent for women in Broken Bay run by Catholic Nuns and also for the aboriginal children to help with literacy. Below is an email from the Hayag Orphanage in the Philippines

15 May 2016 Thanks so much for your donation - from CFC Australia Maroubra Unit. We were able to accomplish the following job order work, aside from the immediate needs of the 16 abandoned children under our care. Immediate needs like diapers, milk, medicines, rice (for porridge), personal necessities like toothbrush, toothpaste and the like. Job order work being accomplished: 1. Painting of the children's swing (below are the newly painted children's swings). 2. Hand rail and metal gate on the staircase (shown in the picture, to prevent the children from going up the stairs) 3. Painting of the children's room (not seen here because we are not allowed to take pictures with the children - they are inside.) Our plans are as follows: 1. Purchase a new sala set - in the picture below you can see we have only 2 sofa chairs. This was donated some 10 years ago and we just covered it with green cloth. 2. Purchase a new air conditioning unit for the children’s' room because it is really very hot here and the electric fans cannot even cool down the temperature especially in the afternoon. 3. We will make a new signage HAYAG RECEIVING AND CHILD CARING HOME. So that we will have a presentable signage. The old one that we have is made of plywood and it has been damaged by TY Yolanda. 4. Processing expenses for the adoption papers of the children under our care. So far, we are already working on it and part of your donation is being used in the documentation and notifications, publishing in local newspapers, and any of the requirements that are needed for their adoption. We will be sending you a complete and actual report as soon as we will have accomplished all our proposed projects. Thank you very much CFC Australia, Maroubra Unit, we will make every cent that you donated count. We are very much grateful for your thoughtfulness and kindness. Thank you very much. To God be the glory. Gratefully yours, Araceli (Lily) Viquiera
