The National Park Ser- vice is working on an ex- citing new project to plan and reconstruct one of the 1940’s ball field from the Minidoka camp, known lo- cally as Hunt Camp. The Minidoka National Historic Site is interested in hearing stories and seeing photos of baseball at the Camp. Imag- es are needed to understand what the ball fields at the Camp looked like. Some lo- cal men have shared stories about how they snuck into the camp(!) to play ball. Lo- cal residents have stopped by to tell the park they know community members have images of the site in their at- tics or stored someplace else in boxes. This is a chance to do a scavenger hunt and find some images and share the stories. Baseball and softball were played at the Camp from 1942 thru 1945. The meeting will be followed by a ribbon cut- ting ceremony for Gooding’s newest business. In July, the Cunningham family took over the Lin- coln Inn and renamed it the Cowboy Inn & Saloon. This Thursday, September 17th, they will hold their Grand Opening starting at 1 p.m. Jeanine Cunningham has been cooking at various re- starants for years, including the famous Triangle Din- ner House in Sweet, Idaho. Over the last few years, she has also worked as a junior accountant and livestock technician. Now, Mrs. Cunningham brings that wealth of expe- rience to a new business, as well as a large family. When you visit the Cowboy Inn, you will likely be served by one of her children (or soon to be children). Open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (or whenever the doors are open), the Cowboy Inn serves all your favorites. Additional specials include Seafood Friday, Prime Rib on Saturday, and a Sunday Buffet. Back in the Saloon, Wednesdays are Ladies Night, Thursdays feature $1 drafts, and on Friday and Saturday come listen and dance to the music. Plan on coming by to give them a big Howdy! The photo below includes Lyle, Lois, Brenda, Casey, Jeanine, Jessica, and Ben- ita, and they are all wait- ing to welcome you to their restaraunt.
