Appointed Person Moving Loads is stage one of the four stage ECITB process which validates the competence of an individual to be an Appointed Person responsible lift planning for moving loads. Refer to the ECITB APML Competency Framework. TARGET GROUP The target group for ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads training is personnel overseeing, planning or managing load lifting and moving operations. DELEGATE PREREQUISITES In order to complete an ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads training course delegates must have: An ECITB level 3 vocational qualification in steel erecting or moving loads; or Recent verifiable experience in moving loads operations validated by a company or delegate CV. PHYSICAL & STRESSFUL DEMANDS OF THE TRAINING A good standard of general fitness is required – delegates will complete a medical fitness questionnaire. AIMS & OBJECTIVES Delegates completing an ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads training course will be able to; 1. Perform the role of an appointed person 2. Understand the role and responsibilities of the appointed person 3. Verify the integrity of supporting structures during the execution of rigging and lifting operations 4. Manage lifting operations, equipment and accessories 5. Manage slinging operations 6. 8. Forces, tension and slinging angles

9. Calculating load weights and centre of gravity

10. Using snatch blocks, fleeting angles and winches

11. Recap on calculations

13. Practical session - development of lift, risk plan and toolbox talk

Day 4 of an ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads training course includes;

- Written theory assessment

- Practical assessment

PERFORMANCE / CERTIFICATION / VALIDITY

Delegates will be given a written examination which will allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.

Delegates practical performance will be evaluated by direct observation during a minimum of one exercise; exercises will include pre-lift rigging inspection, rigging hitches, hand signals.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with a ECITB Certificate, valid for 3 years.

DURATION & TIMING

The optimum ‘contact time’ for this training programme is seen as 32 hours over 4 consecutive days.

MAXIMUM STUDENTS

The course is limited to 6 students, in accordance with the ECITB Standards.

This course can be delivered at any one of our training centres, or ONSITE at your location.
