Jennifer H Mieres, MD, is a Professor of Cardiology and the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. cardiovascular health contributed to the nation’s imaging guidelines for women. A prolific communicator and dedicated community advocate, Dr. Mieres served as chair of several national AHA committees, including the writing group on the AHA’s imaging guidelines for women with suspected heart disease. She is a Master of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) and served as the first female President of the ASNC in 2009. She was an executive producer of the documentary A Woman’s Heart (2002), which was nominated for an Emmy for Best Documentary in the Health Science Category at the 46th Annual New York Emmy Awards, 2003 and is co-author of Heart Smart for Black Women and Latinas: A 5-Week Program for Living a Heart-Healthy Lifestyle (2008) and Heart Smart for Women: Six STEPS in Six Weeks to Heart – Healthy Living (2017).

Stacey E. Rosen, MD, FACC, FACP, FAHA Course Director and Speaker Professor of Cardiology Senior Vice President, Women’s Health Katz Institute for Women’s Health Northwell Health Partners Council Professor of Women’s Health

Stacey Rosen, MD is the Senior Vice President for the Katz Institute for Women’s Health (KIWH) and oversees the development and

coordination of a comprehensive and integrated approach to women's health services at Northwell Health. Dr. Rosen has been a practicing cardiologist for over 25 years and was the Associate Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Long Island Jewish for 12 years, and Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at Northwell Health prior to joining The Katz Institute for Women's Health in the Center for Equity of Care. Dr. Rosen is Partners Council Professor of Women’s Health and Professor of Cardiology at the Zucker School of Medicine. She has been the medical chair for NYC and Long Island Go Red for Women luncheons for many years, working as a national spokesperson to raise awareness about heart disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment opportunities for women. In 2018 Stacey received the AHA’s Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award. She currently serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council for Women Heart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. Dr. Rosen is a co-author of Heart Smart for Women, Six S.T.E.P.S. in Six Weeks to Heart-Healthy Living which equips women of all ages with a comprehensive program for heart-healthy living. Dr. Rosen is a graduate of the six-year medical program at Boston University School of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Heart Association.

Course Coordinator

Whitney Steller Course Coordinator and Speaker Faculty Affairs Coordinator

Whitney Steller earned her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and is a master’s student at Hofstra University. She is the Faculty Affairs Coordinator at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell where she manages the appointment, promotion,

reappointment, and annual evaluation processes for over 3,000 faculty members. She has also managed the school’s Academy of Medical Educators since its inception in 2016. Her main area of interest is supporting faculty who are interested in advancing their careers, which includes advisement on CV editing, guidance through the promotion process, and facilitating conversations between departmental leadership and junior faculty members.

Patti Adelman, EdD, MSEd, MSW Speaker Vice President, Center for Learning and Innovation & Physician Leadership Institute

Patti Adelman is the Vice President for the Center for Learning and Innovation, the Corporate University for Northwell Health, and the Physician Leadership Institute. To help achieve Northwell’s organizational objectives, she is responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of organizational and leadership development activities for both clinical and non-clinical team members. Dr. Adelman recently graduated from the Chief Learning Officer Program, a

doctoral program at the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her Master’s in Education and Ed.D. She received her Master’s in Social Work for New York University. Dr. Adelman holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Sadia Arshad, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Medicine

Sadia Arshad MD, is a graduate of Ross University Medical School. She trained in Internal Medicine at Northwell- Forest Hills Hospital. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. She has been practicing since 2017 at Northwell-Southside Hospital as an academic hospitalist. She enjoys teaching and educating the residents.

Isabel A. Barata, MS, MD, MBA, FACP, FAAP, FACEP, FAAEM Speaker Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine Pediatric Emergency Medicine Service Line Quality Director Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics Service Line Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, North Shore University Hospital

Isabel A. Barata, MS, MD, MBA, FACP, FAAP, FACEP, FAAEM is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the Zucker School of

Medicine Hofstra/Northwell. She is the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Quality Director, for the Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics service lines. She has dedicated her career to improving the care of children in the emergency department through her extensive work in research, committee participation and speaking engagements at the local, regional, national and international level. Dr. Barata has been recognized with national and state awards for her commitment to the care of children in the emergency departments.

David Battinelli, MD Planning Committee Member and Speaker Vice Dean and Betsy Cushing Whitney Professor of Medicine Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Northwell Health

David Battinelli, MD, is responsible for the overall professional management of clinical, education, research and operational issues related to medical and clinical affairs. Previously, he served as the health system’s chief academic officer and senior vice president of academic affairs, in

charge of all undergraduate and graduate educational programs, all continuing medical education, and academic affairs and institutional relationships. Dr. Battinelli is vice dean and the Betsy Cushing Whitney Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine. A board-certified internist, Dr. Battinelli came to Northwell Health from Boston Medical Center (BMC), where he served as vice chair for education, program director, internal medicine residency program and professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. He was also an active staff physician at BMC and the Boston Veterans Administration. Dr. Battinelli is a past-president of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. He has worked closely with and served on numerous committees for a variety of national medical organizations including the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians, and the Accreditation Committee on Graduate Medical Education, among others. In addition, he has lectured extensively on clinical education, faculty development of teaching skills and internal medicine, and is a noted workshop leader and author on these subjects. Dr. Battinelli earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Newark, NJ, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton.

Lauren Block, MD, MPH Speaker Associate Professor of Medicine and Science Education

Lauren Block, MD, MPH is Associate Professor of Medicine and Science Education at Zucker School of Medicine. She is the Northwell/Zucker GIM Fellowship Director. At the School of Medicine she leads the Patient, Physician, and Society curricular component. Her research interests include interprofessional education and women's health.

Ona Bloom, PhD Speaker Associate Professor The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research Dept of Molecular Medicine, Dept. of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Director of Research)

Dr. Bloom is the inaugural director of Lab of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research. Her primary interest is immunodeficiencies after SCI, as

infections are the primary cause of death for this patient population. In addition to her Northwell Health appointments, she is a member of the VA’s National Center for the Medical Consequences of SCI at the James J. Peters VAMC. Dr. Bloom obtained her PhD in neuroscience from The Rockefeller University under the supervision of Dr. Paul Greengard (Nobel laureate, 2000) and performed her postdoctoral studies at the Yale University School of Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Ira Mellman.

Lisa Bondy, ERYT 500, INHC Speaker

Lisa Bondy, E-RYT500, INHC, A yogi and mediator for over 30 years, with over 15,000 hours of teaching experience, Lisa is a master yoga teacher who inspired many over the last 17 years of teaching on Long Island to become devoted practitioners and to train with her to become yoga teachers. Lisa co-founded two major Yoga/Wellness centers in Nassau County, first 2003 Om Sweet Om Yoga in Port Washington, and more recently, 2012 PRACTICE/2018 Northwell Health The Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine in Roslyn, New York, where she currently is the

Director of Yoga and Teacher Trainings. Lisa has her B.A. from Adelphi in History and Philosophy. Since her first teaching certification from Be Yoga with Alan Finger in 2001, Lisa has studied Ashtanga, and Vinyasa yoga as well as more alignment/therapeutic based yoga practices.

Judith Brenner, MD Planning Committee Member and Speaker Assistant Professor of Medicine Associate Dean of Curricular Integration and Assessment

Dr. Judith Brenner is the Associate Dean of Curricular Integration and Assessment at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Her career began at NYU where she was a student as well as faculty member and was involved in both UME and GME. She joined

the Zucker School of Medicine in 2011. Since then, she has worn many hats and is currently focused on assessment and evaluation. She is also the proud mom of four children, ages 15 through 21. She lives by the motto of work-life integration and hopes to share her experiences with participants at SWIMC.

Frank Cacace, MD FACP Speaker Associate Professor of Medicine Associate Chief for Education Division of General Internal Medicine Northwell Health

Dr. Frank Cacace has been a general internist with Northwell Health since 1997. He did his residency at North Shore University Hospital and has served as a clinic preceptor for residents, an associate program director

of the Internal Medicine residency for 15 years and currently is the associate chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine. He has won multiple ambulatory teaching awards, has overseen the ambulatory curriculum for residents, co chairs the education committee for the IMPACcT inter professional clinic within the DGIM and has actively taught at the Hofstra SOM in physical diagnosis, communications and clinical reasoning coursework. He has been a faculty of the American College of Physicians, has served as co chair and chair of medical education innovation submission committees at the Society of General Internal Medicine, was elected into the Hofstra School of Medicine Academy of Medical Educators in 2017 and is an associate professor of medicine at the school.

Jean Cacciabaudo, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Cardiology Medical Director, Peconic Bay Medical Center

As medical director of Peconic Bay Medical Center, Jean Cacciabaudo, MD, oversees all medical affairs, quality management, patient safety issues and standards of care at the 182-bed community hospital. Previously, Dr. Cacciabaudo served as Southside Hospital’s chief of cardiology and Long Island Jewish Medical Center’s associate medical

director. Under her leadership at Southside Hospital, she worked with the multidisciplinary team that brought open heart surgery and advanced complex cardiac care to the Bay Shore community. She also received the Northwell Health President’s Award in 2016 for Team Innovation for chairing the physician committee in Northwell Health Physician Partners that brought physician star ratings and comments to the internet so that patients can have insight into what other patients are saying about their physicians. Dr. Cacciabaudo received her medical training at New York Medical College, and served her internship and residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where her training also included clinical fellowships in hypertension and cardiology.

Maria Carney, MD Speaker Associate Professor of Medicine

Dr. Carney is an internist specializing in geriatric and palliative medicine. She is Chief for the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and Medical Director for Post Acute Services at Northwell Health and Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Carney served as Commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Health 2008 - 2011. A first generation American whose parents emigrated from Cuba in 1960, Dr. Carney has dedicated her career to advocating and caring for the most

vulnerable in society. She has published in the area of dementia, advance directives, caregiving and emergency response for vulnerable populations.

Cynthia J. Chang, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program Associate Chair for Education Department of Pediatrics Staten Island University Hospital

Dr. Chang is currently board certified in Pediatrics and has practiced clinically as a Pediatric Hospitalist for more than 10 years. In addition to

her accomplished clinical work, Dr. Chang is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Zucker SOM at Hofstra/Northwell and has a leading role in educating and mentoring pediatric residents and medical students. She serves on various committees pertaining to Milestones, CLER, GME Policy, Quality Improvement, Resident Research and Faculty Development. Although her passion is resident education, her other areas of interest in research are SIDS and Childhood Obesity.

Joseph Conigliaro, MD, MPH, FACP Speaker Professor of Medicine Vice Chair, Academic Affairs, Department of Medicine, Northwell Health Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center

Dr. Joseph Conigliaro is the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and the Division Chief of General Internal Medicine at Northwell Health and Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine. His research

work has centered primarily on the evaluation of provider behavior change, brief interventions to reduce hazardous drinking, health care disparities, and implementation of best practices. He has a strong history of mentoring junior faculty and fellows who have successfully obtained peer reviewed independent funding. He has collaborated closely to successfully develop and implement a sustainable SBIRT program in various primary care practices with and without the use of health IT. He’s advancing clinical care, education, training and research in academic primary care to develop future leaders in health care delivery particularly in the area of patient centered medical homes, addictions, informatics and quality and patient safety. In addition, he has firsthand knowledge of the best methods to explore the integration of evidence-based practices.

Karina W. Davidson, MASc, PhD Speaker Senior Vice President, Research Dean of Academic Affairs & Professor Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research

Karina W. Davidson, PhD, MASc, FAHA is Senior Vice President of Research, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Head of the new Manhattan-based Center at

the Feinstein Institute of Northwell. She also is Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell She has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, numerous editorials and book chapters. She has won national and international awards for her research accomplishments, and has served as elected President for many of her professional societies. Dr. Davidson formed and is the past chair of the Evidence-Based Behavioral-Medicine committee, a task force charged by seven national and international societies with improving and implementing evidence-based principles within behavioral medicine. She is seen as an innovator in educational programming, and has won university-wide awards for her teaching, mentoring, and innovations in curriculum development. Dr. Davidson joined the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force in 2014. Dr. Davidson received a B.A. Honors in psychology from Queen's University in Canada. She earned her Master of Applied Science in industrial and organizational psychology and her PhD in clinical health psychology from the University of Waterloo in Canada. She completed her health and child clinical psychology internship at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital.

Kristina M. Deligiannidis, MD Planning Committee Member Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics & Gynecology Associate Professor, Center for Psychiatric Neuroscience, Feinstein Institute for Medical Research Director, Women’s Behavioral Health, Zucker Hillside Hospital, Northwell Health

Dr. Deligiannidis is the Director of Women’s Behavioral Health at Zucker Hillside Hospital. As a reproductive psychiatrist, she has expertise in

treating women with mood and anxiety disorders linked to the menstrual cycle and perinatal period. Dr. Deligiannidis conducts research into the causes of perinatal depression and in novel therapeutics. Her research interests include psychoneuroendocrinology and neuroimaging. Dr. Deligiannidis’s research efforts have been nationally recognized with many awards for research and for teaching of medical students and residents. She serves on several national scientific committees and Boards of Directors and as a federal grant reviewer for the NIH.

Kristen Demertzis, PhD Speaker Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Psychiatry Chief, Neuropsychology Division, Northwell Health Southside Hospital Director of Resident Mentorship, OB/GYN Department, Northwell Health Southside Hospital

Dr. Kristen Demertzis is the Chief of Neuropsychology at Northwell Health Southside Hospital and the Director of Resident Mentorship for Northwell Health’s OB/GYN Residency Program at Southside and Huntington Hospitals. She is an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and of Psychiatry at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCLA. She completed her residency in Clinical Neuropsychology at Duke University Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. She is board certified in clinical neuropsychology, and is part of the board certification cadre for the American Board of Professional Psychology-Clinical Neuropsychology Subspecialty. Dr. Demertzis’ clinical areas of expertise include primary neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.

Michael J. Esposito, MD Speaker Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Chief, Thoracic Pathology Service Residency Program Director

Michael Esposito, MD, FCAP is the residency program director of the North Shore-LIJ Health System pathology residency training program and associate professor at Zucker SOM. He is also the director of the

thoracic pathology service of the department of pathology and laboratory medicine. Dr. Esposito is a practicing pathologist with a special interest in thoracic pathology including lung cancer, interstitial lung disease and mediastinal pathology. He also has a strong interest in graduate medical education, especially the use of active learning strategies in pathology residency training. He has been the residency program director for the past 13 years and has been practicing pathology for 25 years.

Alice Fornari, EdD, RDN Planning Committee Member and Speaker Professor of Science Education, Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology and Prevention and Family Medicine Associate Dean, Educational Skills Development, Vice President, Faculty Development, Northwell Health Director, MS degree, Health Professions Pedagogy and Leadership (HPPL), Hofstra University

Dr. Fornari is the Associate Dean of Educational Skills Development, Zucker SOM (ZSOM) at ZSOM and is the Vice President of Faculty Development for the 23 hospitals of the Northwell Health organization. Her faculty development role at both institutions is designed to align the UME, GME and CPD continuum. Serving in these roles for the past 10 years allows her to bring UME curricular innovations to the GME programs and recruit educators from GME to participate in faculty development and teaching at the School of Medicine. She has developed and implemented longitudinal CPD learning for faculty: “Learning Drives Teaching and Assessment” workshops, an educational research curriculum, “Educational Research Skills Development”, and system-wide “Resident as Teacher” and “Chief Resident” curriculum courses, all of which include interactive didactics and experiential components to assure skill-building is occurring in real-time. In 2014, Dr. Fornari was awarded a 2-year grant, Mentoring and Professionalism in Training (MAP-IT), funded by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation that focused on developing mentoring skills in clinicians to achieve humanistic relationships with trainees, colleagues and ultimately patients across the continuum of medical education. In 2015 the Department of Internal Medicine was awarded a 5-year HRSA Primary Care Training and Education grant, Improving Patient Access and Care Through Training (IMPACcT). Dr. Fornari is Co-Principal Investigator on this grant and has oversight of implementation of grant activities which seek to transform delivery of education to students and residents in ambulatory clinical care environments and impacting care delivered in those settings.

Karen A. Friedman, MD, MS-HPPL, FACP Planning Committee Member and Speaker Associate Professor of Medicine Vice Chair for Education Residency Program Director

Dr. Karen Friedman is the Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director for the Zucker SOM program in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital. She received her MD degree from SUNY Downstate and her Masters in Health Professions Pedagogy and

Leadership from Hofstra University. She has been on faculty in the Department of Medicine at North Shore Hospital as a Hospitalist since 2005 and is an Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Friedman’s career and research has been dedicated to medical education. She has published in and presents nationally on novel residency curricula and assessment methods in competency based medical education. She has studied both the use of milestones to assess trainee’s competency as well as the use of Dashboards in medical educations. Dr. Kathleen Gallo is executive vice president and chief learning officer for Northwell Health. Under her leadership, the Center for Learning and Innovation, Northwell Health’s corporate university, and the Patient Safety Institute were created to transform the health system into a learning organization by strategically focusing on workforce development. Dr. Gallo is the founding dean of the Hofstra Northwell School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the New York Academy of Medicine and is a distinguished Scholar and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. Priscila Goncalves, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Medicine Associate Director of the Center for Novel Cancer Therapies (CNCT)

Dr. Gonçalves is the Associate Director of the Center for Novel Cancer Therapies (CNCT) and an Assistant Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Gonçalves completed her Developmental Therapeutics training at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Michigan and medical oncology fellowship at the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI). She

brings robust experience in quality patient care, clinical research and immunoncology from the time working at the HIV and AIDS Malignancy Branch (HAMB) at NCIBesides developing and conducting early phase trials for all solid tumor types, Dr. Gonçalves also specializes in head and neck cancers, salivary gland tumors (with research focus in adenoid cystic carcinoma), non-melanoma skin cancers and virally associated malignancies, including tumors caused by HPV, EBV and KSHV.Additional interests include mentorship and teaching, in particular advancing women in science/oncology. Dr. Gonçalves excels at bringing trials to patients, collaborating with patients to find the best clinical trial opportunities for each individual and the broader patient community.

Beth Gottlieb, MD, MS is the Director of Pediatric Rheumatology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Zucker School of Medicine. Dr. Gottlieb directs the Rheumatology Fellowship Program and the quality improvement initiatives in the Division. Dr. Gottlieb earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University. At Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Dr. Gottlieb was the driving force to form a group for female faculty, founding Cohen’s “Women in Medicine Group”. She also developed a mentorship program for women fellows at the Children’s Hospital. Along with other faculty members, she continues to organize regular meetings for this group promoting faculty development, mentorship, work satisfaction and other relevant topics.

Sharonne Hayes, MD Plenary Speaker Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Mayo Clinic

Sharonne N. Hayes, M.D., studies cardiovascular disease and prevention, with a focus on sex and gender differences and conditions that uniquely or predominantly affect women. With a clinical base in the Women's Heart Clinic, Dr. Hayes and her

research team utilize novel recruitment methods, social media and online communities, DNA profiling, and sex-specific evaluations to better understand several cardiovascular conditions. A major area of focus is spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), an uncommon and under-recognized cause of acute coronary syndrome (heart attack) that occurs predominantly in young women. Dr. Hayes also studies the diagnosis and treatment of nonobstructive (microvascular) coronary artery disease and chest pain syndromes and the subsequent risk of arrhythmias and other cardiac conditions in women who have had hypertension, diabetes or preeclampsia during a pregnancy. With the Pericardial Disease Study Group, Dr. Hayes is assessing the optimal management of pericarditis. Additionally, Dr. Hayes is involved in several research initiatives aimed at addressing health equity and reducing health disparities. Through partnerships with national professional women- and minority-serving organizations, Dr. Hayes assesses barriers faced by women and minorities that prevent or deter them from participating in research studies. Through surveys and national databases, Dr. Hayes is also studying the professional development of women and minorities in the health science professions, including the effects of pregnancy and childbearing during training, and evaluating disparities in academic promotion.

dual board certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine and holds a masters degree in public health policy and management as well as one in business administration. Dr. Jayman is an Internal Medicine Physician who is currently practicing as an inpatient physician at Southside Hospital. During her time at Southside Hospital, Dr. Jayman co-founded the organization known as ‘Community Health Ambassadors’ which is a team of almost 100 men & women who donate their time in educating community members on

health & wellness. This organization was nominated for Presidents’ Award -Team Work in 2019. In addition, she recently completed the Masters of Science in Health Professions, Pedagogy & Leadership at Hofstra University. In 2019, she was nominated for the President’s Award for physician of the year.

As Executive Director of Lenox Hill Hospital, Dr. Jill Kalman is responsible for leading and developing the strategic vision of the

hospital while aligning with Northwell Health’s goals on quality and safety, as well as caring for the community in which we serve. She is also the medical director for the office of patient and customer experience across Northwell Health for which she leads the initiative focused on the physician’s role in the patient experience. Prior to this role, Dr. Kalman served as Medical Director for the hospital collaborating with physician leadership, as well as improving the quality of care delivered at the Manhattan hospital. Dr. Kalman is an expert in congestive heart failure and has published extensively in that area. She began her career on faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital. She also started and developed the Heart Failure Program at Beth Israel Medical Center, and was subsequently recruited to New York University Medical Center as director of the Cardiomyopathy Program and chief of cardiac services of

Dr. Naomi Kaplan is a senior resident physician in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Zucker SOM at Hofstra/Northwell. She completed her honors undergraduate thesis and medical training at University College London. She did her medical internship at the University of Missouri. Dr Kaplan is an alumna member of the ABC News Medical Unit. She is the incoming pediatric palliative medicine fellow at Mercy Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Kapoor has worked towards strengthening the collaboration between the departments of

Thomas McGinn, MD, MPH Planning Committee Member and Speaker Professor and Chair, Department of Medicine

Dr. McGinn oversees the activities of the department of medicine at Northwell Health. Previously, he served as chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In that position, he supervised Mount Sinai’s adult inpatient and outpatient care of general medicine patients, developed a research and fellowship program, mentored and promoted clinician-educators, created an academic hospitalist program,

expanded primary care services and recruited faculty. In addition, Dr. McGinn served as vice president of alliance development at Mount Sinai, helping to develop relationships and partnerships with other institutions and large medical practices throughout the metropolitan area. He was also involved in the medical center’s efforts to implement a system-wide electronic medical record.

Dr. McGinn is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Dr. McGinn is an authority on evidence-based medicine (EBM), comparative effectiveness and medical education, and has established his own core research programs. He has received state, federal and foundation funding to support his research and training in those areas, as well as support for a unique program in hepatitis C. He has also published extensively in the areas of EBM, medical education and clinical research. Jacqueline Moline, MD, MSc, FACP, FACOEM Planning Committee Member and Speaker Vice President, Professor and Chair, Department of Occupational Medicine Epidemiology & Prevention

Jacqueline M. Moline, M.D., M.Sc. is an Occupational Medicine specialist and Professor of Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology and Prevention and Internal Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine. She obtained her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine of the University of Chicago. She completed residencies in Internal Medicine at Yale University and Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she obtained her Masters of Science degree. She is the former Director of the NIOSH funded New York/New Jersey Education and Research Center in Occupational Safety and Health. After 19 years on the faculty at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she joined Northwell Health as the founding Chairperson of the Department of Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology and Prevention. Dr. Moline has been nationally and internationally recognized as an expert in the field of occupational medicine. She has published dozens of articles on the physical and mental health effects of WTC exposure. In addition, she is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Occupational Lung Registry focusing on asbestos exposed workers, and the PI of a study evaluating cancer incidence in volunteer firefighters. In 2010, Dr. Moline was the recipient of the Kehoe Award of Merit from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine for significant contributions to research in the field of occupational and environmental medicine and she has received numerous awards for her service to WTC responders. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the New York Academy of Medicine.

Ernesto Molmenti, MD, PhD, MBA is the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery and the Director of Adult and Pediatric Kidney Transplantation at Northwell Health. He was a clinical fellow in adult and pediatric abdominal organ transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh and subsequently was

at Baylor University Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Arizona. Dr. Molmenti has published over 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and has authored four books. He is a speaker on kidney transplant and organ donation.

Dr. Narasimhan is the Regional Director for Critical Care Services for Northwell and oversees critical care operations at North Shore Manhasset, LIJ Medical Center, Valley Stream, Plainview and Syosset Medical Center.

Dr. Narasimhan is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. She is a testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography. She is a Co-Director for the American College of Chest Physicians course in Critical Care Ultrasonography and on the ACCP executive committee to design a national board certification for critical care ultrasonography. She serves on many National Committees for CHEST and for ATS on Critical Care Ultrasonography. She serves on many medical school committees and on administrative committees at both NS and LIJ Medical Centers. She did her residency, fellowship and was a Chief resident at Beth Israel Medical Center in NY and has been at NSLIJ for 10 years. Dr. Tara Narula is a board-certified cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, an Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine, Hofstra/Northwell and a CBS News Medical Contributor. She contributes to various CBS News broadcasts and platforms including “CBS this Morning”, “CBS Evening News”, “CBSN”

and “CBS Sunday Morning”. She is also a frequent contributor to O, Oprah Magazine. She joined Lenox Hill Heart & Vascular Institute of New York in 2010 and provides outpatient consultative care. She is additionally board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and Internal Medicine. After graduating from Stanford University with degrees in Economics and Biology, she was founder and CEO of her own small business, Sun Juice Inc. Subsequently she obtained her medical degree at USC Keck School of Medicine where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Society Honors. Dr. Narula completed her residency in internal medicine at Harvard University/Brigham and Women's Hospital and her fellowship training in cardiology at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. Kate Nellans, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery Associate Program Director for LIJ Orthopedic Residency Program

Dr. Kate Nellans joined the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Northwell Health in 2013 after finishing her orthopedic surgery residency at Columbia University and a Hand Fellowship at University of Michigan. She has a special clinical interest in congenital hand deformities as well as traumatic hand injuries, including

replantation. Her research interests include 3-D printing to address bone defects in the hand, as well as using patient reported outcomes to assess functional return to activities for patients with hand and wrist fractures. Dr. John S. Pellerito is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology as well as the Program Director for the Radiology Residency Program and Body Imaging Fellowship at Northwell Health. He is Professor of Radiology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and is co-director of the SONICS ultrasound program for medical students at

the University. Dr. Pellerito graduated from New York University before receiving his M.D. from Albany Medical College. Jose M. Prince, MD, FACS, FAAP is a Vice Chair of Surgery for Northwell Health and the System Chief of Pediatric Surgery and Acute Care Surgery. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. As the Trauma Medical Director of Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York

(CCMC), he led the verification of CCMC as the first trauma center verified by the American College of Surgeons in New York City in 2015. Dr. Prince is the founding director of the Laboratory of Pediatric Injury and Inflammation in the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. A native of Queens, Dr. Prince was recruited to return to New York from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to join the faculty of Hofstra/Northwell in 2010 where he completed both his general surgery and pediatric surgery training. Dr. Prince graduated cum laude from the Yale University School of Medicine in 2000 after obtaining his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University. At Yale, Dr. Prince was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship which he completed at the National Institutes of Health. Ankita Sagar, MD, MPH, FACP, is a Primary Care Physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. As Assistant Professor, she co-leads the Health Policy

curriculum as well as the Ambulatory Quality Curriculum for the house-staff at the North Shore LIJ Internal Medicine Residency Program. Ankita is the Director of Ambulatory Quality for the Internal Medicine Service Line at Northwell Health. In this role, she is tasked with developing and maintaining quality initiatives in support of organizational goals, while promoting use of evidence based medicine to improve patient health outcomes and physician experience. Ankita’s clinical interests include standardization of clinical quality, decreasing cost of care, ambulatory antibiotic stewardship, judicious prescribing of opioid medications, and curriculum development in health policy and quality improvement. Ankita is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the Chair for Early Career Physician Task Force at NY-ACP (New York Chapter of American College of Physicians) and serves on the NY-ACP Council Board. Dr. Schleien attended the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine (1979), completed his pediatrics residency at Texas Children’s Hospital (1982), and his

anesthesiology residency and pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital (1985) where he remained on the faculty as Assistant Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and was NIH funded for his research in brain metabolism, brain resuscitation and CPR. He directed the Critical Care division at the University of Miami where he led a major research effort in brain resuscitation. He was a longstanding member of the American Heart Association-Emergency Cardiovascular Committee instrumental in formulating the international pediatric guidelines in CPR.

Dr. Linda Shore-Lesserson is Professor of Anesthesiology Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology in the Northwell Health System in New York. Dr. Shore-Lesserson is a clinical

and an academic cardiac anesthesiologist who is currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA). She is also previous Chair of the Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography Examination Writing Committee, and is now serving on the National Board of Echocardiography. She is involved with other medical cardiovascular disciplines as the SCA liason to the American Heart Association Surgery and Anesthesia Council (CVSA). She is also working with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons to create best practice guidelines. Her research interests lie in hemostasis and she has served as the chair of the Committee on Patient Blood Management of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. She lectures frequently at national and international scientific meetings having accomplished more than 100 visiting professorships and invited lectures. She is married to an otolaryngologist and she has 2 beautiful sons 24, and 18 years of age.

As physician-in-chief, Lawrence Smith, MD, MACP, is Northwell Health’s senior physician on all clinical issues. He previously served as Northwell’s chief medical officer. Dr. Smith is the founding dean of the Zucker School of Medicine. Dr. Smith joined Northwell in May 2005 as chief academic officer and senior vice president of academic affairs. Before joining Northwell, Dr.

Smith was at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, where he served as dean and chair of the Department of Medical Education, founder and director of the school’s Institute for Medical Education, professor of medicine and an attending physician. He joined the faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1994 as vice chair of the Department of Medicine and residency program director. In 2011, he was elected to Mastership of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Smith was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2014, invited to join the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Board of Trustees in 2017 and made chair of the Gold Foundation’s Program Committee in 2018. Dr. Smith serves on the Executive Committee and as treasurer for the Associated Medical Schools of New York. She is President, Faculty Council of the Zucker School of Medicine and the Co-Chair of Northwell’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee. Amy R. Stein, JD, MSEd Speaker Professor of Legal Writing & Assistant Dean for Legal Writing and Adjunct Instruction Maurice A. Nina S. Vincoff, MD Speaker Assistant Professor of Radiology Chief, Division of Breast Imaging, Imaging Service Line, Northwell Health Dr. Nina Vincoff joined the Northwell Health Department of Radiology in 2015 as the Division Chief of Breast Imaging, after 16 years as a private practice radiologist on Long Island. As a radiologist specializing in women’s imaging, Dr. Vincoff has been an early adopter of new technologies which improve patient outcomes through early cancer detection and intervention. She is also a recognized advocate for patient

Michael Wright, EdD, is currently Vice President of Diversity and Health Equity for Northwell Health system. He joined Northwell Health in August, 2014. He has over 20 years of experience in leadership development and implementation of talent strategies across various industries globally. Michael earned his Doctorate in a joint business/organizational learning program with the Wharton School of Business and the Graduate School of

Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He also has two Master degrees from the University of Toronto and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo. Michael received the medal of the Order of St. John from the Governor General of Canada for his contribution to community leadership and has served on the Board of Director’s for Leadership Tomorrow, a Puget Sound Region leadership development program. Gulrukh Zaidi, MD, FCCP Speaker Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Zaidi is a Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine. She serves as director of Pulmonary Services for transplant recipients and rounds on the Pulmonary and Medical Intensive Care Unit Services at North Shore University Hospital and LIJMC. Dr. Zaidi is recognized both at the national and international level as an educator in the use of point of care ultrasonography in critical care. Her

interests include the use of critical care ultrasonography via the tele-ICU, physician burnout, and management of sickle cell disease in the ICU.
