Coweta Public Library System offers a wide variety of programs and events geared for all ages—infants to adults. Some programs require pre-registration and space may be limited. Please read the program descriptions carefully for specific registration information.

The CPLS program schedule is a tentative listing of programs offered at each location. Patrons are reminded that programs are subject to change. In some cases, programs may be subject to cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. All patrons are advised to follow us on Facebook, check the CPLS website, or contact the hosting branch for up-to-date program information.

LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE

Mango is free for all CPLS library patrons and can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection or by downloading the Mango app. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application by focusing on the four key elements of language learning: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and culture.

Step 1: Find Mango on the library's website.Visit www.cowetapubliclirary.org. Select Digital Library and click the Mango button. (Be sure to retrieve the Galileo password from a CPLS locations.)

Step 2: Create a login and password.Creating a profile allows you to track your progess.

Step 3: Select a course.Choose your language and level of instruction. Basic courses are a quick way to learn conversation. Complete course are more in-depth.

Step 4: Access Mango.Once Mango confirms your browser capability and loads your course work the Welcome screen will display. YOU'RE READY TO BEGIN!

WEEKLY STORY TIMETALES FOR TWO'STuesdays -- 10amAges 24 - 35 monthsChildren will get the opportunity to listen to exciting stories, sing songs, and socialize with other children their age. Art activities are included in Tales for Two's!

WEE MUSIC & MOVEMENTWednesdays -- 9:30amAges 6 - 23 monthsDesigned for children ages 6-23 months, children will enjoy finger plays, rhymes, music and movement in an interactive unstructured story time. Parents are encouraged to dance, sing, and play along as their child begins the first step in a lifelong love of reading and learning.

PRESCHOOL STORY TIMEWednesdays -- 11amAges 3 - 5 yearsPreschool Story time is an opportunity for children to be introduced to literacy through books, storytelling, puppets, flannel board stories, crafts, and LOTS of interaction with the storyteller and other kids!

EVERYONECREEPY CRITTERS W/ VICKY SMITH Thursday, October 1 -- 6:30pmBats, Tarantulas, and Scorpions, Oh My! Why are we so afraid of them? What special characteristics do they have? Join Vicky Smith for a show & tell and discussion about some of our creepy crawly neighbors.

A LA CARTE CRAFT STATIONS Monday, October 12 -- 10amLet your imagination fly as you create a unique craft to give or take at the a la carte craft stations. Drop in anytime between the hours of 10-3pm and work independently on your creation while using a variety of craft and recycled materials. Library staff members will be on hand to assist all crafters in making their design into reality.

THE SANTA SHOWMonday, November 23 -- 10amExperience the wonder of Santa, discover the secrets of the North Pole and ask Santa questions such as “How do reindeer fly?” or “How do you enter my house if we don’t have a fireplace?”during the ultimate “The Santa Show.” Join Santa Lee for a memorable celebration of the season and stick around for pictures and cookies after the show.

A fully-proctored practice test will show students what to expect in a test-like environment. Students will receive a comprehensive analysis of their performance on the test, detailing individual strengths and weaknesses. Students need to bring a calculator and #2 pencils. The test begins promptly at 9:30am with no admittance after testing is underway…just like the real thing!

showing their Wimpy Kid knowledge with trivia and fun games. Copies of the book will be available for checkout and door prizes will be handed out! Registration is required.

*PUPPET MAKINGMonday, November 23 -- 3pmPuppetry is an ancient art practiced all over the world. Children are invited to learn about the different styles of puppetry arts and be inspired to make a puppet that will captivate any audience! Registration is required.

*MINECRAFT MADNESSTuesday, December 22 -- 3pm(Ages 7-12) Join us as we explore the craze that is Minecraft! Attendees will embark upon a Minecraft-inspired scavenger hunt then piece together the different clues as teams. *AARP SMART DRIVER COURSEMonday, November 16 -- 10:15am(Ages 21 & up) Refresh your driving skills, learn research-based driving strategies, and the new rules of the road. Presented by Marion Crooke, this certified course costs $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Registration is required and payment is due day of the program.

Senoia Library will present a three week workshop that will have the children re-enact the different characters roles from a special story as they read a script. In this educational and fun program they will also learn a number of words from the story. Through repeated use they will be taught enunciation, expression and self- confidence while building their skills and mastering the art of telling stories, as they learn to speak in front of others and work as a team. Mr. Cook is Executive Director of the Coosa River Basin Initiative and Coordinator for the Georgia River Network’s Paddle Georgia Event in addition to being an accomplished river guide, photographer, and author. His most recent book, “Chattahoochee River User’s Guide,” covers one of Georgia and the Southeast’s prime summer recreation hotspot, a priceless natural resource that provides water and power for a large number of Georgia’s residents, and essential component to the region’s ecosystem. He'll also delve into the relevance the Chattahoochee River has for Coweta County as well. A book signing will follow the author’s presentation.
