APPLICATIONS
Raksha CPVC pipes 1/2” to 2” SDR 11 & SDR 13.5 meets requirement of IS 15778 and fittings in SDR 11 as per ASTM –D 2846 in CTS (Copper tube size). Raksha CPVC pipes are classified by pressure rating i.e. working pressure at 27°C and 82°C. Raksha CPVC SDR 11 and SDR 13.5 pipes are made from identical composition of CPVC compounds and have the same physical properties. SDR stands for Standard Dimension Ratio to wall thickness. The above pipes are recommended for water temperatures ranging from +1°C to +90°C. The recommended maximum safe working stress for these pipes is 8.6 MPa at 27°C. At higher temperature up to 90°C, the strength of the pipe reduces and working pressure shall be modified in accordance with the following table.

Test Method for Quality Control
Test Procedure for the Pipe:
1. Dimensional Tests: To ensure that all dimensions confirm to appropriate standards 2. Flattening Test: Sample pipes are compressed to check that despite compression, pipes do not crack 3. Burst Pressure Test: Ensures maximum internal pressure to be over three times normal pressure rating for the pipe 4. Drop Impart Test: Ensures weights are dropped on to the pipe, without cracks or failures
5. Heat Reversion Test: Ensures residual stresses left in pipe after the pipe is produced
Test Procedure for the Fittings:
1. Dimensional Test: Ensures correctness of dimensions for wall thickness, socket diameters and socket depths as per relevant standards
2. Burst Pressure Test: Ensures maximum burst pressure of fittings must be over three times the normal pressure rating

Applications of Raksha CPVC PipesRaksha CPVC piping, which is suitable for hot and cold water distribution, has a 400 psi pressure rating at room temperature, and a 100 psi pressure rating at 180° F. The materials used in Raksha CPVC pipes are resistant to many everyday household chemicals. Since CPVC materials do not support combustion, they cannot burn without an external fuel source. This property makes CPVC pipe an attractive alternative to steel and copper pipe for fire sprinkler application. CPVC fire sprinkler piping systems are approved for light hazard application and for use in single and multifamily dwellings. Installation shall be in accordance with the NFPA section 13, 13D and 13R.
Galvanised steel pipes are outdated & are not used in most countries for plumbing application because of its inherent problems of leaking, rusting, scaling, pitting, leaching and corrosion.

Basic Principles of Solvent CementingTo make consistently good joints, the following points should be clearly understood:
1. The joining surfaces must be softened and made semi-fluid2. Sufficient cement must be applied to fill gap between pipe and fitting3. Assembly of pipe and fittings must be made while the surfaces are still wet and cement is still fluid4. Joint strength develops as the cement dries. In the tight part of the joint the surfaces will tend to fuse together in the loose part,
the cement will bond to both surfaces. These areas must be softened and penetrated5. Raksha Solvent cement eliminates the use of primer upto 2” only.
Safe Handling of Solvents When using solvent cements, primers and cleaners there are some basic safety measures all users should keep in mind.
1. After every application of solvent on the pipe / fitting ensure to put the lid back on the solvent cement container & tighten the lid slightly to avoid evaporation & escape of solvent
2. Avoid prolonged breathing of solvent vapors. When pipe and fitting are being joined in enclosed areas, the use of ventilating devices are advised
3. Keep the cements, primers and cleaners away from all sources of ignition, heat, sparks and open flame4. Keep containers of cements, primers and cleaners tightly closed except when the product is being used5. Dispose of all rags used with solvents in a proper outdoor waste receptable6. Avoid eye and skin contact. In case of eye contact, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes and call a physician

09 RAKSHA - JEEVAN BHAR KI SURAKSHA
SOLVENT CEMENT JOINING PROCESS
Cutting
Cut the pipe square handsaw with suitable guide or pipe cutter.
Deburring
Chamfer or Deburr pipe, at 10-15. Remove burrs from inside & outside diameters with a knife, file or abrasive paper. Insert the pipe into the fitting and check that the interference occurs about 1/3rd to 2/3rd of the socket depth. Too tight or loose filment may lead to leak, hence should be avoided. Remove any dirt, moisture, or grease from pipe end and fitting sockets with a clean dry rag.
Solvent Cement Application
Apply cement uniformly to inside of socket and outside of pipe end with a bristle nylon brush and a second coat of cement to pipe end. Apply cement quickly to prevent it from drying and completely cover all jointing surface area of the pipe and fitting. Do not apply excessive cement in bell socket.
Jointing
After applying the last coat of cement to the pipe, while cement is still wet (within 20 seconds)forcefully bottom the male end of the pipe in the socket giving pipe or fitting 1/4th turn to distribute the cement evenly.
Wiping
Wipe with a clean dry cloth after applying the solvent.
Cleaning
Cleaning with the cloth outside of the pipe & inside of the socket.

For CPVC pipes which are not embedded inside the wall but are carrying Hot Water from Boiler/Solar water heater, etc it is most important to use readymade expansion loop supplied by Raksha. Use one Raksha expansion loop for every 12ft run of the pipe, between two fixed joints.
For longer lines & longer distances between the fixed joints expansion loops can be made at site with calculations as per the Raksha manual. Illustration for use & correct clamping is provided separately.

Raksha Ball Valve is a high quality, economical quarter-turn shut off valve designed for water distribution in residential, commercial buildings, lawn sprinklers, gardens, spas, and other wide range of applications.
Rasksha Ball Valves provide exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance against rusting, scaling and pitting. The use of standard 0-Ring seals and PTFE seats enables bubble tight shut off.
Advantages
• Teflon Ball Seats: PTFE floating seat design offers smooth operation and reduces wear & tear• 0-Ring Seals: High grade, abrasion resistant elastomer 0-rings• High Impact Handle: Double stop engagement with excellent resistance to most environments• Leak Proof: Pressfit lock assembly with 0-rings ensures proper fitment without a gap between the ball & the stem. The teflon
seats provided on both sides of the ball also helps in preventing leakages
• Easy Installation: No special tools required for installation
Salient Features
• Long lifespan, light in weight & assembles quickly• Safe for sensitive applications as it is processed from non-toxic lead free compound• Easily installed with solvent cement• Can be installed in vertical or horizontal piping system• Ball Valves are hydrostatically tested• PTFE seats automatically compensate for fluctuations and wear & tear• Stem guides prevent side thrust• Open/ close positions indicated on handle• No metal part inside for corrosion to occur• Specially designed full bore which gives optimum flow rate
• Meets standards of PVC ball valves ASTM-D-2466 SCH-40 and CPVC ball valves ASTM-D-2846 SDR-11
