Step on the footplate with one foot, insert the other foot heel first into the yoke of the bootjack and pull your foot out of the boot. The leather strapping is designed to protect the finest boot leather or skin from scuffing and scarring. The artist cuts and ties each strap to the yoke. Metal bootjacks are individually sand-casted of bronze, aluminum, or cast-iron. A plastic, light- weight, collapsible model is also available. Each bootjack has a footplate that may be personalized.
