Current State

Healthcare systems are facing a crisis of escalating benefit costs for employee

healthcare. Projected trends predict that this expense will exceed the net operating income in the near future. This wholly avoidable crisis

jeopardizes the Sisters of St. Joseph’s mission to provide care to all people.

~Watson and Wyatt, 2009

Worksite Health Promotion ‐ As an internal cost avoidance strategy…

inspired by Dr. Edington’s model for enhancing employee health management. The overarching goals are to help SJHS and other employers optimize the well being, health, and performance of their workforce while reducing the avoidable healthcare utilization to flatten the upward trend of healthcare benefit expenses.

•Overall Return on the Mission ‐ Supporting a healthy and productive workforce is paramount to achieving the healing mission of SJHS.
