Underground Hotspot updateAt the last Parent Meeting, Mr Scott Mcilwain; Regional Manager from Greencap and Mr Greg Mott; Senior Group Leader, School Infrastructure NSW provided updated information to our community on the underground hotspot.Over the past months, Greencap has monitored the site, gathering data on the surface temperature, the position of the underground hotspot and the air quality surrounding the site. This information has been uploaded onto the website for the community to view. The next phase of the process is to gather further data by installing underground gas wells. This will enable information to be captured on the amount and types of gas within the subsurface. The gas wells will be installed through a drilling process and will begin on Saturday 16th June 2018. While this is happening, you will see truck mounted drill rigs on site. The Department of Education has also employed an independent auditor to oversee the project. If you have any questions regarding the underground hotspot, please see me and I will forward them onto the Department of Education and Greencap to be answered. Athletics CarnivalOur K-6 Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 22nd June 2018 on the oval behind our school. All students will be participating in this event and parents are most welcome to join us. A note with further information regarding this event will be sent home this week. Weekly attendance averageAt Cringila Public School, we aim for our students to average a weekly attendance rate of 93%. Over the past two weeks, we averaged a 91% attendance rate. This is below our goal. Unfortunately, Year 6 had a very poor attendance rate of 88% for the fortnight. Please ensure your child is at school everyday to maximise their learning opportunities. Please also remember to notify the school if your child has been absent from school. This can be done either in person, over the phone, written in a note or via the skoolbag app. Kindergarten 2019We are currently in the process of organising our 2019 Kindergarten transition program. If you know of anyone who has a child that will be starting Kindergarten in 2019, encourage them to come to the school to collect an enrolment pack.

Parent Online Payment System (POP)As of Friday 15th June, the Parent Online Payment System (POP) will go live for Cringila Public School. This will make it possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, and can be made via computer, tablet or mobile phone. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the school’s website by selecting $ Make a payment. Items that can be paid include; excursions, gala days, camp payments and resource packs. There is also a category called ‘Other’ to cover items.

When you access the $ Make a payment you must enter:• the students name• class • date of birthThese details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the payment system. This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school. You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed. Receipts can be emailed and/or printed. Details of the payments are passed daily to the school where they will be receipted against your child’s account. As a receipt has been issued from the payment page a further receipt will not be issued by the school. For any enquiries regarding the online payment process please contact the School Administration Office.Parents will then have the choice to follow our current procedures of sending money to school in an envelope, or using this system. More detailed information will sent home this week regarding this system. Breakfast ClubThursday morning Breakfast Club is an excellent initiative at our school that ensures every student begins the day with a nutritious meal, which is essential for focus and concentration. Up until now, we have been fortunate enough to work with a local charity, which, due to unforeseen circumstances, can no longer provide food for us. We are still searching for a business who may be able to donate bread, milk, and fruit on a weekly basis or a money donation to enable us to continue this program for our students. If you know any businesses that may be able to assist us, please contact Miss Butcher.

On Friday we went to the zoo. I saw a snake and a crocodile. By Aiden~~~

In week 4 year 1 year 2 and kindergarten went to the best place - the zoo!!!! We ate our recess. After that I got to hold a saltwater crocodile!! It hit someone in the face with its tail. Then she got a fake snake out then a real one she did not let us hold it because if it goes around your neck you will get hurt. Last but not least we went back to CPS. My favourite was the saltwater crocodile because I got to hold it.By Bella ~~~
