Last Week - Wonderous Week 3
It was another busy and successful week at
Crossmaglen.
Thank you to Mrs Marshall and her family for
all their organisation and preparation of the
Mother’s Day breakfast. It was a wonderful
celebration of the important women in our lives.
The students had a busy week preparing for the
Coffs Harbour Show. This year’s theme was My
School. Before we started creating, I asked the
students what makes Crossmaglen amazing and
all the students unanimously stated our
learning, gardens and everyone in it.
The students decided to use their very creative
skills to made a replica garden out of paper and
paper mache. They made corn, tomatoes,
watermelon, carrots, zucchini, butternut
pumpkin and origami butterflies.
It was a beautiful display and I am very proud
of our creative students!

Fundamental
Movement Skills Positive Behaviour
for Learning Kitchen, Garden and
Sustainability
This week during Movement
the students are learning
the fundamentals of a relay
race and how to pass the
baton to team mates.
At Crossmaglen we are
learning how to show thanks
to those who help us.
The students waited on
their families during the
Mother’s Day breakfast to
say Thank you.
Thank you Ian for helping
us plant and cultivate our
yummy carrots in the
garden. We enjoyed them in
our Spaghetti Bolognaise on
Friday.
From the Principal __________________________
Dear Parents and Friends of Crossmaglen Public School,
There is such a positive heartbeat around the school - even with our heavy engagement in
academic and extra curricular pursuits. Our students continue to challenge themselves daily
and the staff are truly committed to learning and growth. I was asked the other day ‘How’s
Crossmaglen?’ and I answered with – we are flourishing!
Mother’s Day
Thank you to all our Mothers who attended the Mother’s Day
breakfast. It was such a joy to see your children serve your breakfast
and then clear up. I hope you enjoyed the morning and your hand-made
keyrings. How gorgeous were those gift bags!!
NAPLAN
Congratulations to those students who completed the NAPLAN last week. We were one of the
schools who sat the reading, language conventions and maths on-line this year – and I am happy
to say that we did not have any of the technical difficulties experienced by some schools.
Great Aussie Bush Camp
On Wednesday Zoe, Bayah, Rose, Avalon and I head off to the Great Aussie Bush 3-day Camp
with our friends from Bonville Public School. Thank you to Francine Hunter who extended this
invitation to us. I have emailed the latest itinerary and if you require another checklist for
packing, please let me know. We will meet at Bonville Public School at 8.30am on Wednesday –
please have all medication clearly labelled. We are expected back at Bonville Public School at
3.45pm Friday afternoon.
Election Bake Sale
What a wonderful cook up. The cakes, biscuits, relishes and lemon butter certainly lined the
tables at the Bonville Hall over the weekend. Thank you to those who were able to support in
so many ways. Thanks to Rosie, Pauline, Raven and Sheridan who helped cook at the school
(still looking for my casserole).
Garden Raffle
Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle. The
idea to have a gardening focus is such a great idea
for our local community.
The funds are going towards our Kids in the Kitchen
program with a focus on a large (much needed) new
oven and cooking kits for the students.
Crossy Bunting Sew-Sesh
Thank you to Christiana who held a sewing session last Wednesday.
Zoe, Rose, Dusty, James and Amelie learnt how to use a sewing
machine as they made bunting for the school to use. The end product
oozed fun and a beautiful display for our gazebo.
Book Fair
Okay book lovers – it is on again, the Book Fair. Please come in and have a look – any time that
is convenient for you. The students will bring home their wish list over the next few days –
they all have been encouraged to ask how they could earn the money by helping out around the
house. Now’s your chance parents ;).
Simultaneous Read
Think of the Kinder and Year 1 students on Wednesday 22 May
at exactly 10am as they will join students across Australia to
simultaneously read Alpacas with Maracas.
For the past 19 years a picture book, written and illustrated by
an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously -
there is even a countdown timer - visit
https://www.alia.org.au/nss.
Crossmaglen Staff
Thank you to our wonderful staff at Crossmaglen who have worked tirelessly to support so
many activities – in the last few weeks the Mother’s Day breakfast, election bake sale, book
fair and Coffs Harbour Show display come to mind. Ky, Ian, Rom and Miss Blayney freely give
their own time to support the children in our care. I thank each of you for the warmth, heart
and effort you give to our school community – it is always appreciated and valued.

Election Day Bake Sale ________________________
What a wonderful community we
have!!
Thanks to Jamie-Lee and Skyler
who also joined us for a few hours
and donated baked goods.
Wow! Another successful election day
bake sale. Thank to all the families who
supported the bake sale with donating
time and goods over the weekend.
The stall had outstanding success with
all goods selling out by lunchtime. The
Kids in the Kitchen jars of Zucchini
Relish and Lemon Butter sold quickly
with patrons requesting to order more
from the school. A huge thank you to the
P&C- the Melville family spent their
entire Saturday setting up and packing
down.
Thank you to Bonville Golf Club for
donating ice for our drinks and the
wonderful Mrs Dutton for donating her
delicious Choko Pickles and pot pourri.
