Main railway stations undeniably contribute to the vitality of growing metropolitan areas. They act as interchange hubs between urban and inter-city rail services. Passenger rail provides a dependable response to the challenges faced by a territory regarding mobility, force of attraction and sustainable development. The main station is a complex object; whether in new build projects or station modernisation, its role is to provide intelligent responses to the key issues of flow management, security and comfort conditions, the intelligent management of facilities and services and the quality of the different spaces..From feasibility studies to the development of new services and facilities as well as the complete range of intermediate design and project management phases, Egis offers a fully comprehensive range of services.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

Egis is the lead contractor in a group tasked with the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) of the civil engineering structures and infrastructure of line the 16, with the exception of the Le Bourget RER and Clichy-Montfermeil stations. The work scope also comprises all of the connecting zones for the 5 interchange stations which are Le Bourget RER, Sevran-Beaudottes, Sevran-Livry, Clichy-Montfermeil and Chelles.

Egis contributed its services to the definition of the station as a symbol of the GPE’s identity by incorporating its regional characteristics. Technical feasibility and integration studies aimed to strike a balance between high quality service and financial discipline.

Having provided assistance to the Client, Egis is now working as engineer and programme manager, with a view to services starting up in 2023. This is another new challenge for Egis on a highly important sector of the Grand Paris automatic metro.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

Egis is part of a consortium headed by Icade and Fondeville as part of a public-private partnership to design, build and maintain the Montpellier-Sud-de-France station.

Egis has been contributing to the project since 2008 in location studies, assistance to and Client assistance project management to produce the station’s functional and technical programme, and also in detailed pedestrian flow studies around the transportation hub.

In association with the architects Marc Mimram (Paris) and Emmanuel Nebout (Montpellier), Egis is in charge of the bioclimatic environmental design, construction management of the passenger building and the car park, with delivery scheduled for the end of 2017. In this complex and strategically important project, Egis has deployed a wide spectrum of its skills.

PROJECTThe aim of the GPE network is to make travel easier between and around the main Parisien suburbs. Line 16 will run between the Saint Denis Pleyel station in the North and Noisy-Champs station in the East and will offer multiple connections with other services.

The line will have a total of ten stations, all designed according to strict specifications regarding visibility and spatial clarity.

PROJECTThe Montpellier-Sud-de-France station is situated on the new line which bypasses Nimes and Montpellier (CNM). This line is an essential stage in the project to complete a high-speed line between Paris and Barcelona.

Located in a rapidly-developing area south of Montpellier, the new station is in fact a huge transportation hub offering connections between passenger rail services and the tram network as well as other ground transportation modes. Designed as an elevated station spanning eight railway tracks, it offers a 3,500 sqm concourse devoted to retail and services. With an open, airy design and a roof which controls the light entering from outside, it blends in harmoniously with an innovative environmental project.GRAND PARIS

OUR CONTRIBUTION

Egis contributed to the design studies of Western Station alongside the architects Omrania & Associates who won the contract. Egis worked on the electrical and mechanical facilities for water and electricity and on the air conditioning system. Egis was also tasked with the building’s acoustics and its waste processing strategy.

Egis also provided studies for civil engineering / systems interfaces, technical facilities, communications systems, fire safety and space optimisation according to passenger flow. A broad spectrum of Egis expertise, brought to benefit an iconic station.

PROJECTWestern Station is one of the four largest stations in Riyadh’s future metro system. This automatic metro project involves the creation of 6 lines and 85 stations.

Located on line 3 in the south west of the city, Western Station provides a great many connections with the bus network. A car park will also be built to accommodate 1,000 vehicles.

While the station is a transportation hub, it also aims to be a hub for community life too. With an architectural design portraying the desert, between dunes and an oasis, it includes a covered market, a mosque and public squares around it.
