Creative Movement (Ages 4-5) Our program emphasizes the eight elements of move-ment: centering, gravity, balance, posture, gesture, rhythm, moving in space and breathing. These elements are not only the foundation of dance but also necessary skills as children develop physically and emotionally in order to get ready for more formal and structured in-struction. Students take one class per week.

Pre-Ballet (Ages 5-6)This class will lead to a deeper study of ballet technique. Ballet etiquette is part of the curriculum, and children will be introduced to steps using proper ballet terminology. At this level, individual expression of feelings, music interpre-tation, spontaneity, storytelling and teamwork are taught. Students take one class per week.

Level 1 (Ages 6-7)Students are introduced to a more in-depth study of bal-let technique and will continue to learn new skills using proper ballet terminology as well as individual expres-sion, music interpretation, spontaneity, storytelling and team work. Students take two classes per week.

“My daughter has been dancing with the CSU Dance Conservatpry since she was three. The instruction she has received has been exceptional. Her teachers have instilled in her a love for dance that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. They have watched my daughter grow up, and I will always be grateful for the life lessons they have taught her that extend far beyond the ballet classroom. Through dance, my daughter has learned grace, poise, and the importance of discipline.“ – Amy Carlson

“My daughters have studied ballet at the CSU Dance Conservatory for the past seven years. From their first Creative Movement classes through their current courses in Classical Ballet and Modern Dance, their instructors have taught them much more than simply dancing. They have developed self-discipline, respect for others, and an understanding that learning anything requires patience and commitment. The conservatory has provided my girls with an opportunity to forge ongoing relationships with their instructors and strong bonds with the others students who are now lifelong friends.“ – Claire McCoy
