ER students take part in Stock Market Game

Mrs. Meeks' fourth and fifth grade Operation Explore classes at Eagle Ridgeparticipated in the 2014 spring online Georgia Stock Market Game sponsoredby the Georgia Council on Economic Education. One fourth grade team con-sisting of Dalton Chambers, Grayson Mingledorff, Jaquan Moore and Tyrel Raywas declared the regional winner for the Baldwin County region. The teamended the game with a portfolio of $101,803.69. Playing the game gives stu-dents an opportunity to learn about the stock market and businesses and howthey affect the economy.

Mrs. Meeks and Mrs. Drew at Eagle Ridge Elementary held their annual ProjectH.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere) Reveal. Students revealed howthey had helped others this school year. These special moments were capturedon a Powerpoint presentation. The top volunteers for the school year eachreceived a trophy. The top volunteers were Josie Stephens, Haleigh Batchelor,Brae Hadid and Gabrielle Sowell. All of the members were so excited abouthow they had helped others and how it had made them feel on the inside.Project H.O.P.E. strives to instill and inspire a love for helping others. Therewere also special guests in attendance. Mrs. Lisa Bell from the Salvation Armywas there to personally thank the members for ringing the bell during the hol-iday season. She gave out certificates and copies of a very touching poem writ-ten by a very young child that benefited from the students' help. Also in atten-dance were Mr. and Mrs. Currin. Mr. Currin has donated his famous 'fishing lineChristmas trees' for the last two years to help the H.O.P.E. members raisemoney to fund various projects. Eagle Ridge students and faculty look forwardto spreading even more H.O.P.E.

The BHS Human Anatomy & Physiology science class explores thedynamics and make of the brain. Exploring the various parts of thebrain truly sparked an interest in the seniors and junior during this unitof anatomy. Being able to complete the Brain and Neurological unitwith the hands on brain dissection lab gives the students an opportu-nity to observe the inner layers and pieces of the brain versus just talk-ing about the functions of the right and left hemispheres.
