Pages 3-4: Cuba Notebooking Pages: Two different styles. Print the one you want. Check the blog post below for resources to complete it.

Page 5: Map of Cuba Scavenger Hunt: Print and use with a globe or world map. Answers on page 19.

Pages 6-7: Following Directions Around Cuba: Print one map for each child and read directions to learn more about Cuba and practice listening skills.

Page 8: Place Notebooking Page: Use to research one of the places mentioned in the Following Directions activity or any other place in Cuba.

Pages 9: Cuban Currency: Learn about Cuba’s currency and practice some math skills.

Map of Cuba Scavenger HuntUsing a map or globe, find the following locations and fill-in the answers.

1. Havana is the capital of Cuba. Draw an orange star next to Havana.2. There is an area here called Old Havana that allows you to see what Havana

looked like 200 years ago. Write “old” in red under your orange star.3. Half way between Havana and Matanzas sits an old town built by Milton

Hershey for workers that worked at his sugar mill there. Draw a chocolatebar in this area.

4. Travel east along the coast until you see the first peninsula. This is Varadero and is one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Circle the peninsula and draw a blue sand bucket above it. (Hint: The peninsula sits below the ‘as’ in Matanzas.)

5. Now travel directly south of Matanzas to a large peninsula on the opposite side of the island. The Zapata Swamp is located here and contains many different kinds of animals. Draw a simple green crocodile on this peninsula.

6. Follow the coast east to Trinidad. There are some beautiful old churches and a monastery here. Draw a cross below Trinidad.

7. Travel east to Santiago. An old fortress, started in 1587, is here. Draw a small, grey brick wall here.

8. Further east is the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base built by the US in 1898. Draw a blue boat below this area.

9. Travel directly north to Baracoa. This is the oldest city in the country. Write ‘1511’ in green. This is the year this city was started.

10. Finally, travel back west to Santa Clara where the revolutionary, Che Guevara, is buried. Draw a gravestone here.
