Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sept 30, 2018 dedicated a series of

He also inaugurated six new projects of Amul dairy set up at the
total cost of 1120 crore rupees. These include the state of art

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently said urban cooperative
banks (UCBs) with minimum net worth of 50 crore are eligible to
apply for voluntary transition to small finance bank (SFB). Other
Conditions
• Maintaining capital to risk (weighted) assets ratio of 9 per cent
and above. • Promoters should submit information relating to the
general body resolution by a
two-thirds majority and authorising the board of directors to take
steps for the transition.
• Promoter has to submit a no-objection letter from the Central
Registrar/Registrar of Co-operative Societies.
A brief history • First known mutual aid society in India was
"Anyonya Sahakari Mandali"
organised in the erstwhile princely State of Baroda in 1889. • It
was organized under the guidance of Vithal Laxman also known as
Bhausaheb
Kavthekar. • Cooperative Credit Societies Act, 1904 gave the real
impetus to the movement.
The first urban cooperative credit society was registered in
Canjeevaram (Kanjivaram) in the erstwhile Madras province in
October, 1904.
• Bombay passed the first State Cooperative Societies Act in
1925

awarded to James P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo, by the Nobel
committee of the Karolinska Institute. The two immunologists — from
the U.S. and Japan, respectively — were awarded the Prize “for
their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune
regulation.” The two immunologists have won the prize for their
discovery of ‘immune checkpoint therapy,’ a cancer treatment.
