Social Contribution / Extension Activities:
Extension activity
The department of Zoology has organized Extension activity on
health and hygiene at sundaipodu tribal village in Andhiyur taluk. The school
students of the village were educated about the value of education, regularity in
school going, regularity in food intake, balanced diet, importance of traditional
crop varieties, personal hygienic habits, cleanliness of surroundings, safe
drinking water, improvement of health care about water borne, air borne, food
borne and vector borne diseases and contagious diseases. We have given
awareness about vaccination and immunization. We discussed with the students
about health care, maintenance of home and their belongings. A health camp was
disputed pamphlet about health and hygiene for school children and village
people by the department. Blood grouping and blood glucose level were
diagnosed for about 60 persons. The village people were advised to follow good
health habits, proper maintenance of their children, medical care, water
conservation, rain water harvesting and not allow stagnation of water in the
surrounding. The people were guided to avoid of tobacco and narcotic
substances. The villagers were motivated to send the children to the school
regularly. We ensure the villages that the department will give all support to
improve and upgrade the village with all basic facilities and healthy
environment.

The Ph.D Scholars of the Department, Mr.A.Murugan and Ms. T.Kavitha, under

Therasa University.

The students are eagerly participated in various activities and won many prizes
at college and inter-college levels.
R.Gokulraj of III year won Vivekanandha Youth Award in the year 2015-2016.
S.Sivashankar of III year got I place in State level Essay writing competition
conducted by Tamilnadu Legal Department.
S.Rajeshwari of III year got I place in Weight lifting Competition conducted by Erode
Arts & Science College in the year 2016-s017.

Academic Performance:
DCLT COURSE
The Department of Zoology conducts the course Diploma in Clinical
Laboratory Techniques (DCLT). This course started with 40 students. The private
students are arranged to jointed in laboratory of famous hospitals the course is be up
with two hospitals and two laboratories of the city. A health camp was conducted on
08.01.2017 to 14.01.2017 in the support of Amirtha multi speciality hospitals about 75
persons are assessed for the health. Basic medical examination was carried out and
medicine also distributed to the patients.
The students of DCLT were visited Pasteur’s institute, coonoor and gathered
lecture programmes from varies department .The demonstrated the preventions and
protective measures of rabies and vaccination. The students fulfill their brain with
useful information.
In this year 40 students successfully completed DCLT course. Among them 18
students placed in various Hospitals as Lab technicians.

ALUMNI MEET REPORT
The Department of zoology has organised the Alumni meet on 09.04.2016.The
function kicked off with welcome address by Dr.T.Chitra Associate Professor
and HOD of Zoology. Our college Secretary and Correspondent, sadhanai
semmal Thiru. K.K.Balusamy, delivered the presidential address. Our beloved
Principal Dr.R.Venkatachalam gave the felicitation. Special address delivered
by the Former HOD of Zoology Dr. V Arumugam and Professor K.Poopathi
Deputy Controller of Examinations. In this function more than 50 alumni of
Zoology Department positioned as Professors, scientists, Teachers, Advocates,
Bank professionals, and Medical representatives etc. have participated and
shared their experiences. Finally the function was successfully completed with
vote of thanks given by our alumnus Dr.Manosathiyadevan, Assistant
professor, C. N. College, College.
