You’ll be met upon arrival and escorted to the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel.

July 13, 2019 Welcome to Kigali

You’ll be escorted from the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel to the airport for your

included flight to Kigali. You’ll then be met upon arrival in the Rwandan capital

and escorted to the Kigali Serena Hotel.

July 14, 2019 To the Virunga Mountains

Departing from Kigali you will be welcomed by your expert guide who will

provide knowledge and assistance throughout your safari. Your journey takes you

through the beautiful terraced hills that characterize much of Rwanda's

landscape. Climbing gradually to the base of the spectacular volcanoes of the

Virunga range, the five nearest peaks rising high above the verdant countryside,

you arrive at the magnificent Gorilla Mountain View Lodge . Meals L+D

July 15, 2019 Gorillas in the Wild

Early this morning, we take you to Ruhengeri, the main base for gorilla trekking

in Volcanoes National Park. After an important briefing from park guides, you’ll

enter the park to begin this unforgettable adventure. There are four gorilla

families habituated to human contact and their movements will determine the

duration of today’s trek. Starting at an altitude of 6,500 feet, you’ll trek along

densely forested slopes to catch up with your assigned gorilla family. After

locating them, you’ll have an amazing opportunity to spend about one hour

watching quietly as the gorillas go about their daily routine. Retrace your steps

down the volcano and return to your lodge for the night. Meals B+L+D

July 17, 2019 Fly into the Maasai Mara

Both the Giraffe Center and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are hailed for helping

to save Rothschild giraffe, elephant and rhino, but it’s the passions that drove two

families to establish these organizations that will inspire you. Dine at Tamambo

Karen Blixen, set on the author’s former homestead, before flying into the Maasai

Mara where big game roam in the same super-abundance that thrilled Teddy

Roosevelt. You’ll be welcomed by Maasai dancers and cool eucalyptus-scented

towels. At the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, unwind on your private verandah

overlooking the hippo and crocodilefilled Mara River.

Cross the border into Tanzania for lunch in Arusha and journey across the

magnificent Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park, one of the prettiest

Serena Lodge and enjoy a thrilling evening game drive. Be on the lookout for

Manyara’s unusual tree-climbing lions that retreat into the branches of the

July 22, 2019 Onward to Ngorongoro

Set out this morning to spot the flocks of flamingos, herons and pelicans that

gather on the lakeshore as well as Sykes’ monkeys, olive baboons and bushbuck.

Midday finds you gazing across the world’s largest intact caldera from your

luxury tent at Lemala Ngorongoro. Later, thoughtful engagement with Maasai

villagers and a visit to a local school reveal the challenges and rewards of life in

East Africa.

Encircled by mountains, the open grasslands of Ngorongoro are easy for officials

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted by private car

July 28, 2019 Day 2 – Discover the Spice Island + Unwind

After breakfast, our private car, driver and guide will be waiting to take you on a

morning visit to one of Zanzibar’s spice plantations. As you learn about the

history of the island’s spice trade and savor the rich smells of vanilla, clover,

cardamom and myriad other spices and tropical fruits, you’ll come to appreciate

why Zanzibar is known as the Spice Island. The scenic return journey back to

your resort takes you through seemingly endless rows of coconut palms and

reveals more of the island’s natural beauty.

After sightseeing, your afternoon and evening are at leisure so you can relax and

Lemala Mara North Serengeti Luxury Camp - Serengeti,

Between June and October, this intimate luxury camp sits

on a rocky outcrop overlooking the great expanse of the

northern Serengeti toward the Mara River which flows just a

short distance away. This privileged location affords guests

the opportunity to witness the migration river crossings

without large crowds of other visitors. Regardless of

seasonal location, each luxury tent sits on a wooden

platform, stylishly decorated with a dressing area and

private en suite bathroom. Guests dine in a cozily furnished

Mess Tent, with complementary beer, wine, and spirits

available during meals.

Lemala Ngorongoro Luxury Camp - Ngorongoro, Tanzania

This intimate luxury safari camp is perched on the rim of

the crater offering just 8 private tents, each graciously

appointed with thick duvets, a dressing area, and a private

en suite bathroom. The heart of the camp is the Dining Tent,

beautifully furnished with grand sofas, lamps, and rugs.

Gourmet dining is offered here or al fresco with

complementary wine, beer, and spirits served during meal

time. The Camp’s privileged location is just 5 minutes away

from the entry route that descends into the Crater. The

encampment is facing a delightful acacia forest which

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club has re-opened following an

extensive renovation program. Surrounded on three sides by

the Mara River, and on the edge of the world’s Seventh

“New” Wonder of the World – the Masai Mara - Fairmont

Mara Safari Club is the epitome of tented luxury. The main

lodge at the center of camp hosts an indoor restaurant, bar

and library with Internet access to keep the relatives up to

date with safari adventures. A spacious outside deck

Ol Tukai Lodge - Amboseli, Kenya

Our handpicked accommodation offers intimate, chalet-

style guestrooms surrounded by an expansive lawn and

tended gardens, overlooking the Amboseli plain and Mt.

Kilimanjaro. The property is adjacent to Acacia woodland

and the eastern boundary is home to several families of

elephants. All rooms are stylish and comfortable,

constructed with native materials like gum tree planks, river

stone, and slate. Each guestroom has a private bathroom

and terrace. We’ll enjoy our meals in the cheerful dining

room, accented by a colorful tapestry depicting the life of the
