I identify directions for technological and cultural shifts and help libraries as well as related industries understand the impact of and maximize these change opportunities. Experience and Influence Summary: I have had four years of distinguished service in the Yale University Libraries, wide experience at the University of Hawaii, and extensive scholarly contributions to the profession guiding the directions of library innovation through global presentations and publications. Current Independent Work: I help meet the ever-changing technological landscape through the strategic exploration and application of emerging trends in technology and information engagement. I envision and develop services, products, and operations to strategically prioritize and leverage opportunities presented by shifts in information consumption driven by technological evolution. I watch, analyze the impact of, and shape these trends by applying my considerable influence to continue guiding directions for library and content innovation. I give talks about the major current and upcoming technological trends and how they impact libraries, publishing, and the information and service industries. I deliver keynote and featured presentations across the US and internationally. I help institutions adapt to tensions caused by technological development and identify the new opportunities they provide. resources in a mixed yet historical research environment. I have provided reference services to a wide variety of patrons utilizing various technologies and have developed services to leverage emerging technologies including social media tools and mobile technologies to enhance reference services. I have led, coordinated, and delivered instruction initiatives online and in person. I have led technology support for staff and end users while investigating the application of emerging technologies to services and operations as well as serving as web master. I have managed large collections budgets from General Appropriations and Endowments. Feb 2007 – Sept 2011: Librarian II Yale University, Science Librarian, Coordinator of Instruction and Technology, Kline Science Library.
Lead investigation into innovative uses of technology for enhanced library services including mobile technologies, web 2.0, social networking technologies, productivity tools, and more.
Responsible for building and maintaining electronic and print monograph and serial collections for the subject areas of Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, and Physics.
Responsible for collections budgets from General Appropriations and Endowments totaling 2.5 million dollars.
Coordinate, program, and deliver in person and online library and critical thinking instruction activities for constituencies across the six science libraries.
Provide reference service for the faculty, students, and other researchers of the Yale Science community in person, by phone, email, online with instant messaging, through text messaging and social media tools. Also provide general system-wide reference service through QuestionPoint and Instant Messaging.
Create, design, implement, and maintain virtual reference services through emerging technologies including Instant Messaging, text messaging and social networking sites for the science libraries. Explore and implement additional technologies for enhancing and expanding reference services.
Serve as Expert User providing coordination and support for all automated workstation requirements within the six science libraries: manage the conversion of staff and department email systems across servers and clients, coordinate replacement of staff and public computers, maintain library software and hardware.
Contribute to the functioning and governance of the Library system through such committees as the Library Research Education Committee, and the Committee on Digital General Resources, Staff Training & Organizational Development Committee, and the Promotion Review Committee.
Serve as webmaster for the science libraries; maintain, update, and archive websites, manage and coordinate web activities. Explore new web initiatives. o Led migration of website to CMS.
Other duties include managing a journal exchange program with global partners, preparing grants, preservation initiatives.

May 2006 – December 2006: Information Literacy Instruction Internship, University of Hawaii at Manoa: Supervisor Randy Hensley.
Designed, marketed, coordinated, implemented, delivered instruction, assessed, and evaluated an information literacy curriculum titled Workshops That Matter for that semester and constructing a sustainable model for future semesters, consisting of instructional workshops designed to enhance the critical thinking, research, and lifelong learning skills of diverse library patrons. These workshops meet the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, General Education, accreditation requirements, and the assessed needs of the campus population.
