Born in France but fascinated by India, Mathieu Rimbert is a multi- instrumental musician. He plays wide range of instruments such as Tabla, Sitar, Guitar, Flute and Harmonium. He has given live performances and recordings with accomplished European and Indian musicians like Gabriel Ion, Anandita Basu, Christophe Patrix and John Axelrod. Mathieu is a self learnt musician; he was fascinated by Indian Music when he first undertook Sahaja Yoga lessons in year 2000. The fascination of Indian culture and science of self-realization drew him more close to Indian classical and specially “Bhakti Sangeet” folk music. He further learnt music by listening to music maestros while he undertook some vocal and instrumental lessons from Prabhu Edouard and renowned Wasifudin Dagar. He also learnt improvisation techniques by undertaking workshops from conservatory of Nantes and Cholet with Clarissa Severo De Borba. Mathieuʼs musical fusion is drawn from multiple cultures, going from Celtic music as well as Indian classical fusion. He has given concerts on Fusion music baroque with Romanesca 2.0. His performances also include light Indian classical and Sufi music at several international venues and yoga conferences in Italy, Spain and many cities across France. He holds a graduate degree in Sociology and Sports from University of Nantes. As a multidisciplinary person, Mathieu plays several roles as he is a music teacher at the conservatory of Cholet and also gives workshops on yoga, meditation, music therapy, mental and sport fitness. He is based in Vallet, France and stays happily with his wife and two kids Satya and Jivan. Mathieu Rimbert
