Italy and Greece
This is Italy
This is Greece
This is Tuscany
This is Achaia
In Tuscany there is
San Giovanni Valdarno
The capital of Achaia is Patras
On the east of San Giovanni Valdarno, there is the mountain (Pratomagno),
On the west, there are hills (Chianti),
and in the middle, the Arno river
View of San Giovanni
Valdarno
On the east of Patras, there is the mountain (Panahaiko),
On the west is the gulf of Patras, which is part of the Ionian Sea
On the north east is the Rio – Antirio bridge which connects the Peloponnese with mainland Greece
And on the south west is the new port
View of Patras
The Italian Ecomobility project involved:
Visiting the Town Hall
walking safe routes home-school
Finding alternatives for a green mobility:
Riding a bike………..
Learning to move safely
Discovering what air pollution means.
Lichens as bio indicators of air pollution. Lichens in the tree near our school.
Results show a good air quality
Our proposals to reduce pollution:
Increase cycle paths,
use the bike to go to school,
use electric, solar or hidrogen vehicles,
use “pedibus”,
use one car in more people,
make less expensive school transports.
The Greek Ecomobility project involved:
Visiting the old port of Patras
Visiting the new port of Patras
visiting the Russian sail training ship “Kruzenshtern”
Watching a presentation and videos about water sports
Learning the basics of windsurfing in the school’s playground …..
Answering work sheets
And taking part in a walking tour of our city together with other schools using a tablet/mobile phone application (Clio muse) with info about important sites of our
city before finally meeting the mayor of the city and other officials
We reached the conclusions:
Water sports are fun and good exercise
The sea and the port are an essential element in the economic, cultural and social life of Patras
Wind energy is ecological, cheap and a “clean” form of energy
Walking is not only the best way to get to know a place, its history and culture, but also a very good way
of moving around
Technology through tablet/mobile phone applications can assist learning in an interesting way
