HOW TO USE THE LINKS

That link is obfustacted as 1337 $p3@k. The best practice is:

1. Obfuscate the domain name: r3br@nd<dot>ly

2. Put the rest of the URL on the next line: /ShareThread

But a lot of people put it all on one line like I did above. You’ll need to deobfuscate it. Make sureyou haven’t added any spaces (there shouldn’t be any) and pay attention to capital letters. Evenwhen it comes to letters size matters, Brave Hero.

Other trove linksSome links will start off /r/ like /r/thecoolroom. That’s not reddit, that’s volafile.org.Other times people might post “in the temple” or just “/coolroom”. They are often volas or rebrandsbut read the documents to find out what they mean.

HOW TO SEARCH

Use Ctrl-F or Cmd-F. This is all simple stuff Brave Hero, but you won’t believe how many dumbarses come in here asking stupid questions. I mean, you didn’t have to be told to use Ctrl-F or usesensible search terms, but some people do.

How to search inside trove documentsIf you want to find Dungeons and Dragons it would pay to look for “Dragon”, as well as the shortforms “D&D”, “DnD” and the publishers “TSR” and “WotC” or “Wizards”. You might severalthings called “dragon” that aren’t D&D but at least you should find everything that is D&D. If youwant solo game book “Fighting Fantasy” it might pay to look for “game book” or “gamebook” aswell as “Fighting”. If you want the space game “Traveller”, try looking for “sci fi” too.

How to search inside the trovesSearch. Open up every folder. Search again.

HOW TO SHARE

Upload your file to a file sharing site. Make sure your file is clean. Unless you made the PDFyourself it’s probably watermarked. Post your link to the share thread. Obfuscate your link a littlebit. But not too much Hero. I don’t want to waste our time trying to decipher it.

How to scan booksThere are many websites that will tell you how to scan books. You can look those up yourself.

You may be able to email cityofcarse<at>gmail.com to contribute a physical book for scanning if you don’t want to scan it yourself.

Try IRC.

server: irc.dejatoons.net channel:#rpg-books"@find GameYou'reLookingForGoesHere"should net you plenty of DCC responses to siftthrough. You can also try /ctcp options like"/ctcp ps !ps" and navigate the directory."help" and "dir" are useful commands here.

If you use mIRC, you're going to have to gointo your options and turn off the option thatdenies a whole bunch of file formats, as well asthe check box that turns them on again after acouple of minutes. HexChat does not have thisissue.
