I. PREPARATION

Techniques : Question-answer, Pair work, Role play, Reading aloud, brainstorming.

Materials : Blackboard, Worksheets, Computer, Projector, Visual Aids, PowerPoint Presentation.

Teacher Roles : Facilitator, independent participant

Learner Roles : Negotiator, active participant

Overall objectives of the lesson:

1. Knowledge of the “Would like for future plans”

2. Ability to talk about situations by using “would like”

3. Ability to give reasons for the future plans

Behavioral Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;

1. Create a general rule about “Would like” for future plans

2. Write sentences and speak about situations by using “Would like”

3. Learn how to take a decision about their personal goals

4. Make and play a dialogue

II.PRESENTATION

1. Warm-up and Motivation

The teacher greets her students saying “Good morning class!” Then she asks the students how

they are. Students say ‘fine thanks and you?’ the teacher says ‘I am fine.’ Then, she says

“Today, we are going to talk about your educational plans for future and your personal goals.”

She asks “What are your personal goals in the future?” and she wants the students to say what

comes their mind. She starts a brainstorming session. Then, she shows some questions about

how to behave before they take a decision about their personal goals.

Answer these questions:

1. What do you want to do in the future?

2. What is your ideal work environment? ( Inside an office or in the open air?)

3. What is your ideal location? (A village , a town or a city?)

4. What do you enjoy doing? (A physical job or a mental job?)

5. What are you good at? (Numbers or words?)

2. Stating the Instructional Objectives

After motivating the students, the teacher tells the students the topic of the lesson and

she mentions about the aim of the lesson to the students “Today, we are going to learn

together how to talk about personal goals. She tells the importance of taking a decision about

their personal goals in the future.

3. Presenting the Instructional Objectives

The teacher shows a slide show about personal goals of some people. She underlines

the structure. She makes the class repeat the sentences again and again. Finally she says:

“Let’s talk about your personal goals about future” and writes their sentences on the board.

This is the sentences on the slide show:

1. (EDUCATION)I would like to go to the college because I am interested in science and technology

(CAREER)2. I would like to be a policeman

because I want to catch the guilty people and protect innocent people.

3. (CAREER)She would like to be a nurse because she likes helping doctors and patients.

4. (CAREER)She would like to be a surgeon in the future because she wants to treat ill people and perform operations

5. (CAREER) He would like to be a famous pop star because he likes singing and dancing.

6. ( OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES)I would like to do sky-diving because I l like excitement.

7. ( CAREER)They would like to be a footballer because they are interested in football.

8. (MARRIAGE)Tom would like to marry Shelia because he loves her.

III. PRACTICE

In the practice part, the teacher wants the students to work in pairs. There is a dialogue

on the handout. They will read the dialogue loudly and then they will try to write a dialogue

by using the key words that are given in the box. They will act the dialogue out before the

class.

This is the dialogue:

Exercise 1: Read the dialogue.

Sheila: Which faculty do you want to enter?

Marry: I would like to enter the Faculty of Medicine.

Sheila: Do you want to be a doctor?

Mary: Yes. I would like to be a paediatrician.

Sheila: “A paediatrician”? What does a paediatrician do ?

Mary: A paediatrician treats children’s illnesses.

Sheila: Why do you want to be a paediatrician?

Mary: I like children very much and I would like to be a paediatrician because I want to help the children in villages.

Exercise 2: Make a similar dialogue. Use the key words in the box.

IV. PRODUCTION

In this part, the teacher wants the students to write their 5 personal goals for the coming

10 years and explain them. Then, they will read their sentences loudly in the class.

V. SUMMARY

The teacher summarizes the lesson in a few words and asks whether the students have any

problems or questions or not. If they don’t have any question, she finishes the lesson saying

“See you next lesson!”

VI. ASSIGNMENT

The teacher wants the students to write their best friend’s personal goals and explain them.
