ITALIAN COURSES TUITION

The standard course meets for a scheduled one and a half hour session once a week for 14 weeks (Fall) and 16 weeks (Winter and Spring) for a total of 30 lessons.Courses have a minimum of 4 students (and a maximum of 10 students).

1.5 hrs class - 30 weeks:• $870;• to enroll a sibling: $825;• Family ICS members: $825

Possibility to split the payment in two (September and January).

Drop-ins are also available.

The ICS Summer Camp is an immersion program designed around a variety of activities that will encourage your children to speak Italian through singing, cooking, completing art projects, playing indoor and outdoor Italian games in the Battery Lane Park, behind ICS.

The objective of our courses is to develop comprehension and speaking skills. To reach this goal we organize the kids in small groups, and give the personal attention the child needs, according to age and level. Children will speak, read and write using traditional methods, but also will learn vocabulary and grammar by playing and moving, using the Total Physical Response approach. They will learn Italian culture and traditions by creating artwork, singing songs, watching videos, and other activities appropriate for their age. Children and teens are properly stimulated in order to develop a positive attitude towards the learning of the Italian language. At the end of the year, students will receive a Certificate of attendance. Our Italian teachers receive periodical training. The syllabi include preparation for the AP exam in Italian. We also offer preparation for the Italian SAT subject test.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM

MUSIC LAB in italianoThe course will be taught through real musical experiences where the children will be completely immersed into music. This will be achieved by incorporating music using three different approaches: GAMES, MOVEMENTS and FANTASY. The course will provide various fun activities such as dances, singing games, rhythmic games, nursery rhymes, songs, dramatizations and vocalizations; the activities will take place in a ludic environment like fairy tale or made-up stories. This will allow a gradual and spontaneous acquisition of a basic theoretical-musical knowledge.

The project prepared by the choirmaster FELICIA TOSCANO will focus on a weekly meeting and will present a mixed repertoire. The range of music will be gradual and diversified by genre, origin and difficulty that will take into account the vocal range and the characteristics of the components of the various sections of the choir. There are 20 pieces, of which some canons, songs with 1, 2 and 3 voices, with solo parts, to be performed a cappella or with instrumental backing tracks.
