School Grades 2007: What is Measured

Additional requirements applied AFTER a school’s points are calculated:• Adequate Progress for Lowest 25%—required to earn grade based on calculated points. If a school

does not meet this requirement, the school’s grade is lowered one letter grade.

• Participation Requirement (Percent Tested)—required to earn grade based on calculated points. Schools must test at least 95% of their students to earn an “A”, at least 90% to earn any other grade.

Revised School Grading Scale

The school grading scale was adjusted in 2006-07 to account for the addition of the Science and Math Lowest 25 Percent components, adding 200 points to the scale and requiring 115 more points to earn an A-F.

• A school with enough points to earn a “C” must show adequate progress of the low 25% in both reading and math for either the current or previous year or the grade will be lowered to a “D”.
