Data Rate and Bandwidth
Define Data Rate :the rate at which circuits or other devices operate when handling
digital information
Define Bandwidth :is typically measured in hertz, and may sometimes refer to passband
bandwidth, sometimes to baseband bandwidth, depending oncontext. ...

between data rate and
bandwidth?
for high data rate ( data transfer speed ) thebandwidth of the signal carrying system shouldbe high. because a high data rate means a highfrequency ( square ) wave actually such a waveconsists of a large number of waves having arange of frequencies Fourier analysis) so to geta distortion less transmission the bandwidthshould be high

Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the difference between the upperand lower cutoff frequencies of, for example, afilter, a communication channel, or a signalspectrum, and is typically measured in hertz. In
case of a baseband channel or signal, thebandwidth is equal to its upper cutoff frequency.Bandwidth in hertz is a central concept in manyfields, including electronics, information theory, radio communications, signal processing, and
spectroscopy.

Bandwidth
In computer networking and other digital fields, the termbandwidth often refers to a data rate measured in bits/s,for example network throughput. The reason is thataccording Hartley's law, the digital data rate limit (orchannel capacity) of a physical communication link is
related to its bandwidth in hertz, sometimes denotedanalog bandwidth. For bandwidth (computers), lessambiguous terms are, for example, gross bit rate, net bitrate, throughput, goodput or channel capacity.
In telecommunications, data transfer rate or just transferrate is the average number of bits, characters, or blocksper unit time passing between equipment in a datatransmission system.

Bandwidth
Transfer rates can serve several functions. Theresponse time can help a network administratorpinpoint where slowdowns and potentialhangups exist in a network. By analyzing data
transfer rates and adjusting accordingly as apreventative measure, a system can be mademore efficient and will be more prepared tohandle extra bandwidth constraints in times ofheavy usage.
Testing mechanisms such as fiber opticloopbacks can assist in measuring andconducting data transfer tests.
