What is the Ultima Cloud Development Pipeline PoC?This PoC engagement seeks to assist organisations in proving that their chosen DevOps pipeline design not only looks good on paper, but will also add desired value to the business before making any further commitment.
Implementing your DevOps pipeline design as a PoC will allow your stakeholders, developers and testers to ensure that the pipeline delivers on the design intentions. They will be able to prove that the end to end process works, from software version control, build and test, to release and deployment. Issues will be identified and can be addressed before a pipeline is stood up in production. The pipeline should add value and not hinder the development process.
Why do we need a Cloud Development Pipeline PoC? As the pace of development in the competition continues to accelerate, the requirement for a robust DevOps pipeline becomes apparent. To ensure that the DevOps pipeline being implemented is fit for purpose it is essential to prove it.
The aim of this engagement is to assist organisations in implementing their DevOps pipeline design without a large financial commitment. Once implemented, the PoC can be used by a small number of users to establish whether the designed pipeline satisfies the functional, non-functional and cost requirements. Any shortcomings in the requirements can be recorded and fed back to the design team for resolution.

Analyse This stage provides a systematic process for understanding the intended DevOps pipeline design, the technologies to be used and the reasoning behind them. It helps to evaluate the current maturity level of your DevOps pipelines and to determine what capabilities your organisation needs.
Review With any DevOps pipeline, it is essential to select the most appropriate technologies to satisfy the pipeline requirements, even if this means using a mixture of commercial and open source solutions. In DevOps terms, this is generally driven from the development and testing requirements.
Implement A key objective of this engagement is to implement the intended DevOps pipeline design and provide a new, optimised and efficient process that improves the cadence and quality of development. Ultima will work closely with the organisation’s development, test and operations teams.
Present Ultima will present the completed pipeline results back to the organisation in a structured workshop, including a full end to end demonstration of the concepts and functionality included in pipeline. After which field questions against each of the components.
Steps to your Cloud Development Pipeline PoC
Ultima’s ApproachOutcome based Proof of Concept Delivered as a PoC, consultants from Ultima’s Modern Data Centre team will use a tried and tested approach to interrogate your current operating model and identify the requirements and deliverables for the PoC. The maturity of the current model will be assessed and a PoC design created that includes the appropriate enabling technologies. As part of the PoC execution, a demonstration of the concepts and functionality included in the pipeline is provided along with presentation of any findings which will be discussed in order to help guide you through any transition process.
